I got a similar message. My study section is being rescheduled for 2 partial days in January. Only 1/3 of grants will be discussed.
Just got an email from my SRO for the study section that was missed in October. Good news is that they are trying to reschedule ASAP (Dec/Jan). The bad news is that CSR is mandating that only the the top third (not half) of applications will get discussed for the next 2 rounds.

Some universities think they can buy protection
“Viewpoint diversity” is a moronic goal without a whole lot of caveats and qualifiers. A physics department hiring phlogiston theorists and an astronomy department hiring flat earthers & geocentrists would increase “viewpoint diversity” and also radically lower the quality of education.

🧪 Translation for NSF folks:

Yesterday's SCOTUS decision will likely soon result in these previously blocked actions:

-elimination of NSF divisions as an org unit

-closing Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM, firing its staff

Can still be challenged in court (see below). But still 🤯🤯🤯
The Supreme Court has stayed the AFGE case, which prohibited the Trump administration from moving forward with Reductions-in-Force. Several quick notes based on a cursory skim: 1/
