My colleague, Dr. Vahid Abedini, was illegally detained by ICE on Saturday. He is currently being held without a court date in sight, despite being in the country legally. Please spread the word! We must ensure his due process rights are upheld. www.oudaily.com/news/ou-prof...

Marjorie Taylor Greene's resigning in time to get a pension is a lesson to everyone.

Most Americans don't get *any* pension anymore, but Congress gave itself a pension after only five years of work.

Our "representatives" aren't working for us, they are [barely] working for themselves.

As I said in July as CU was preparing to put up this statue, "One of the most prominent bigots in recent Colorado history is a man named Bill McCartney." @boulderrl.bsky.social reports that CU this weekend barred the press and erected a statue of McCartney, celebrating a man who hurt many people.

McCartney was both a record-setting coach and an advocate for policy that stripped legal protections for LGBTQ+ people. His statue went up this month.

I guess it's better to have your case kicked because you're not the US Attorney than because you filed an indictment that wasn't really voted on.
A federal judge has ruled that former insurance lawyer Lindsey Halligan was invalidly appointed as interim U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia and has dismissed the indictments of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

"Replacement" is doing a lot of work in this sentence, as they say. Not as much work as all that trenbolone, of course.
“Kennedy is 71, but with the help of weight lifting, artificial tanning, a careful diet, and testosterone-replacement therapy, he looks more like a comic-book character than a senior citizen, his bronzed face all chiseled angles, his eyes sky blue.”

Now I can't watch this Eagles game because of my belief that whenever I develop a rooting interest, that team loses. (It's a Kansas-based rule but I'm expanding.)

And I'm about to be among Eagles fanatics for a week who will be grumpy if they lose today.

A 🧵 of 🧵s on p-values. A "yarn," if you will.
this is a good thread. apparently i am endlessly frustrated by forensic metascience slop
Also let's just not take replication results as facts regardless of which hunches they confirm. And let's stop circling p-values and its variations (e.g., dissing calculated CIs because they come too close to some threshold) as if that's some serious statistical criticism.
