Clover's little winter coat finally came and OH MY GOD
I remember this from a YA novel if I'm not mistaken. My Side of the Mountain maybe? Happens when the extreme cold comes in too fast and the tree doesn't have time to harden up against the ice expanding inside of it.
I've lived in Minnesota my whole life and have experienced some major cold snaps but this is the first time I've heard about exploding trees.

I actually agree that calling ICE the Gestapo is inaccurate, because the Gestapo was far more sophisticated.
ICE is much more like the Sturmabteilung (SA): violent, racist, fat, poorly educated and undisciplined thugs too stupid to do anything other than random street-level terror.
