Far be it from me to contradict the well-paid consultants for the losing side in the last election, but maybe "person snatched off the street and sent to a death camp without any kind of hearing" is something Americans can recognize as bad if it's brought to their attention enough????

The reason small town America hasn't turned on Trump yet, is because they bought into Trump to 1) Push back against the left for making them feel bad about some of their shitty opinions and 2) they thought he would be good for them economically. He can only deliver on the first 1/
This from @jdcivicscience.bsky.social nails why small town, red America is not turning on Trump.

Maybe a real administration would have formed this working group before starting a trade war?
(CBS News) - Trump administration officials, anticipating supply chain strains due to steep tariffs on Chinese goods, have discussed forming a working group to deal with the problems with urgency if there's no breakthrough with Beijing, multiple sources told CBS News

Anyone debating or analyzing Kilmar Abrego Garcia's life or record is doing a grave disservice.

He could be El Chapo. He could be Charles Manson. He could be the Dalai Lama.

It doesn't matter. What has happened to him and others is clearly a violation of America's core laws and principles.

NBC News reviewed over 100 pages of documents submitted by the federal government in its effort to deport Mahmoud Khalil.

In some instances, the government appears to be relying on unverified tabloid articles. In others, the government claims are clearly erroneous. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
Government's case against Mahmoud Khalil is reliant on tabloid accounts, review of evidence shows
Khalil, a permanent U.S. resident who helped lead pro-Palestinian protests, was finished with postgraduate studies when he was arrested on campus and scheduled for deportation.

A similar argument can be made for this administrations gripe on other nations free loading on defense spending. The path of defense spending in those nations goes back to post WWII where we were very happy that Japan and Germany werent allowed to rearm while we feared up for the Cold War.
It's so bonkers to see the richest economy in human history saying that they're the victim of a system they built, the system that made them the richest.

It's like you're a lawyer who only gets haircuts when your barber needs legal advise.
& there is no "unsustainable" trade deficit. We have $30T of domestic income, $250T of private sector assets. It's not "unsustainable" to send $1T abroad every year. That's like having $250K assets, $30K income & convincing yourself that paying your barber $1K a year puts you in financial distress.

This argument fully misunderstands how trade works.
Consumers can choose to buy a T-shirt that's made domestically or an imported one. That decision includes price, quality, shipping, etc. When the imported option inclusive of shipping is dramatically cheaper we choose that one. 1/

I have a different take. There is rarely certainty. 'Uncertainty' is just an excuse for 'the market is not easy for me'.
The only thing investors hate more than uncertainty is chaos.

Interesting read, but over all this paints a false dichotomy between building more housing and having another financial crisis. I think removing some red tape and building more housing is a very achievable goal without risk of an immediate housing bubble.
"No zoning law or agglomeration of zoning laws has had the impact on housing construction that the collapse of the housing bubble did. We built fewer homes each year from 2008 to 2014 than in the worst year for home construction in history to that point." prospect.org/infrastructu...
The Last Abundance Agenda
In the 1980s, Wall Street vowed to make housing more affordable through deregulation of housing finance. The result was the 2008 crisis.
