The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.

Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

Why can’t Democrats understand this? We lost in November because Americans desperately wanted a slate of policy moves never discussed during the campaign that Trump somehow knew were what folks who publicly said everything was about the economy _really_ wanted: invading Greenland, Mexico, and Panama

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

I understand why Republicans beat on Biden who was an extremely successful president. I DO NOT understand why Democrats beat on him as well, given the legacy he is leaving. The GOP, particularly the MAGA wing, is better at self promotion (and self protecting) which explains why they now have power!

My mom was a teacher in the South and she described this kind of endless fad diet approach to education. Every few years they'd have some new scheme they'd have to follow and the response was usually "Make the bare minimum changes to keep admin happy and do whatever seems to work for your class"
Yep. This is one of the most radicalizing pieces I ever wrote, about my own high school.

Silver-bullet, top-down Bold New Ideas are never going to work. Effective approaches are slow, make significant investments and ask teachers what they need.

Hell, when I was a TA I also doubled as an unofficial remedial writing tutor because most of those kids (at Johns Hopkins!) couldn’t write at a college level. So yes, let’s replace actual teachers with more of the product that’s stunted their intellectual development in the first place

Hold the GOP accountable no matter who you are. All Americans deserve better.
P.S. Social Security has
a surplus. If you want to make it more plentiful, tax those over $400,000 in a more meaningful way!

Perhaps every classroom should have a sign explaining to GenZ students—the generation most concerned with climate change—that AI is a huge (HUGE) consumer of energy, and together with crypto mining, will consume 8% of US energy by 2030. More energy production, more carbon (under Trump, for sure.)

Some of the negative reactions come from people who have witnessed administrations take any excuse to defund whole schools and departments. If you can't see how this will be used by admins to erode TA budgets and how that will impact grad students, I don't know what to say.
This is the key fact about this tool: it seems built to complement and help human labor! The negative reactions seem to assume, rather depressingly, that AI can only replace humans, but that’s not necessarily the case.
(Btw, here in the real world, by using our AI tool to remove simpler tasks, I repurposed my human course assistants to exclusively tutor students who were really struggling after the midterm. More useful work for the humans, better help for the students! Productivity is good!)
