This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

Got a letter back from Chuck Schumer on the PRESS act which says he will "continue to monitor" its progress.

...That's not good enough? He needs to push for a vote, now, before time runs out in January.

If Schumer is your Senator, contact him now: www.schumer.senate.gov/contact/mess...

Was at the MET Museum yesterday and want to share some #art that stuck out to me.

This one sticks out not just because it’s pretty but because later that night I almost crashed my car into a deer that stopped in the road. With the headlights shining against it, it sorta looked a lot like this

Hi friends!

I just wanted to give a quick update on The Onion’s purchase of InfoWars, which we can’t wait to relaunch as the dumbest website on the internet.

The long and short of it: We won the auction and — you're not going to believe this — the previous InfoWars folks aren't taking it well.

Dems with asshole GOP senators who never take your calls, there’s never been a better time to dust off your high school acting class chops and pretend to be a concerned Republican who has totally legit Republican reasons why they should reject these nominees

I keep hearing that every incumbent party has lost power in recent elections worldwide but that's not true at all. Claudia Sheinbaum of Morena won the presidency in Mexico with even bigger margins (30+ points) than AMLO. She did it with leftist populism so I guess that doesn't count.

Yes yes yes. I have run a 24/7, 365 operation since I got elected. I have a permanent campaign HQ that rotates between off-year and on-year organizing.

People thought it was nuts when I first set it up. I said you’re setting yourself up for disaster if you only show up 6 mos before an election.
We also treat “the campaign” as if it’s something that occurs June-November. What the right knows and excels at is that the campaign exists every day, all year around. Dems need to do a better job of touting their legislative wins and bashing the gop for opposing popular bills that help real people.
The ironic thing about post election chatter is that a lot of the time it’s candidates who lost, underperformed, or underworked who have endless time to go on TV and share their blame story.

And for their part, journalists rarely EVER ask if that person actually ran a functionally solid campaign

Still no hits, please repost and like if nothing else, this poor boy was supposed to be here 3 weeks max and we’re going on 6, and as much as I adore him, we DO want to get him a forever home elsewhere to free up our schedule and so we can foster again in our future.
Hey yall this goob still isn’t getting any hits on posts so if you’re in/near WI or willing to travel, he’d make a perfect only dog for someone I think. He’s got a few quirks and he’s a little anxious but hardly a bad dog.

I'm a big fan of giving yourself a good, manageable task rather than trying to tackle everything at once all of the time.

This is a good, manageable task for today:

Call your reps and tell them to vote "no" on HR 9495
These are the calls we're making today, friends! Very important.

Fellow NYers, get on this! Get Schumer to get off his butt and confirm some judges NOW. I hear he doesn't like for his office to get phone calls (the poor dear) but keep after him.
Okay, all. As promised.

1. Here is the call script to ask our Dem Senators to appoint judges.

2. And a second script *specifically* for New Yorkers to use for Schumer.

Anyone here like to read the Best American collections each year? If you’ve read any of them yet, how were they?

So far I’m making my way through the essay one and I’m slightly (just a little bit) underwhelmed. None of the essays are bad exactly, but I feel like they’re all treading similar ground

I just want to point out that Colorado went above and beyond to pass laws protecting trans kids this year and the result was them holding the House supermajority and keeping the Senate majority while losing zero seats (flipping one, and losing the one that was the guy who changed parties)
the thing about people saying dems need to throw trans people under the bus is that they already did that when they refused to even offer a counter argument to the decade long dehumanization campaign waged by the right

I need Christopher Nolan to make another movie like Oppenheimer except this time it’s about Robert Moses and structured around his long-running feud with FDR.

I’m only 370 pages into The Power Broker so I’m not quite sure how it’ll all play out, but it’s already very dramatic 💙📚👀 🚫🚗

Getting back into #reading The Dispossessed. Although Left Hand of Darkness will likely reign supreme among the 2 Le Guin books I’ve read so far, the anarchist v. capitalist musings of this book are still fascinating. Just wish the characters themselves were slightly more interesting 😞 #booksky

Tbf they totally should’ve put their names on it. That’s just good politics, making sure the people you’re helping actually know you’re helping them even if they’re not that tuned into the news
Obama: Joe Biden sent you a check during the pandemic, just like I gave people relief during the great recession. The thing is, we didn't put our names on it, because it wasn't about feeding our egos.
