It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

Democrats negotiated a plan where a 8 completely safe dems would vote to open and the rest can post “i voted no” thats what all the negotiations were about: how they would explain the optics of the loss. it was never about saving healthcare

Just for everyone who sees this? This is exactly the level of rigor and dedication NYT has practiced in regards to its entire body of work on trans kids, affirmative action, and progressive policies. this is what they've always been. They just fluked up where everyone could see it this time.
The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

Andrea Dworkin pointed out the irony of being told men are women's natural protectors, when they are the biggest danger. Whether women are put on a pedestal or a pyre, it's the same old patriarchy. Men & women are not different species, men are not naturally superior to women.

Feels like ranked choice was absolutely decisive in this race—not because of the vote count, but because of how it changed the incentives from zero-sum to cooperapetitive. It allowed a fractured left field to align organically through co-endorsements instead of falling into a circular firing squad.
From a key Mamdani adviser ❤️

It's so very funny that Cuomo's campaign torched $35M on shit like running plane ads that read "MAMDAN = OSAMA" only to get fucking creamed

I get how aggravating social media must be right now for anyone who doesn’t live in nyc, but unfortunately it’s reminded me of what I love about this stupid place. a city full of people who are too annoying to live anywhere else and simply will not shut up and I love all of us so much sorry!!

The scene at Andrew Cuomo's election night party, held in a very cavernous space on the fourth floor of the Carpenters Union Hall.

There's a bar serving beer and wine ("donation-based") and a stage set up for an eventual speech.

Polls close at 9 p.m.

yes, the establishment will respond very harshly to the threat. should Mamdani prevail everybody needs to double down on ranked choice and all the other things we actually want and like
If he pulls this off you won’t just see a huge media backlash to younger lefty candidates but to ranked choice voting as well
Mamdani surges past Cuomo in final Emerson poll, pulling nearly even in the first round and winning final round 52/48.

Crucially, the poll shows Mamdani with a 41/31 lead among those who have already cast their ballots.

this is not the most important objection to Cuomo but its an accurate one. The reason he wants to be NYC Mayor is fundamentally "it was an important office that opened up at an opportune time for him to attempt a comeback" and hes a very special boy so his allies rolled out the red carpet for him
Andrew Cuomo doesn't live in NYC and hasn't for 30 years. He's not interested in being the mayor or creating a better city. He's going to be one of the worst mayors in this city's history. A bunch of people who should have retired from public life a decade ago are doing all they can to torture us.

Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap.

The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm.

Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.
