Not to pick on this person bc this is a common belief, but top American income tax rates and capital gains are higher than most European nations. The big difference is most European nations have ~4x our rate of consumption (sales, excise) taxes. How about a national 20% VAT & $2.00 gas taxes per gal
The US is unfortunately a country that prioritizes individuals hoarding money over comfort and security for everyone else. Thanks, Reagan.

FWIW, RUMINT, but pretty reliable:

1. Vance key to US embrace of Russia plan on Ukraine, Rubio (and even Trump) out of the loop.

2. Vance-Rubio relations “awful.”

3. Rubio told the senators exactly what they said he told them.

4. Hegseth paranoid he’ll be shoved out, Driscoll will replace him.

This is great news, but man, I miss when industry built in cities in multistory factories rather than sprawling over hundreds of greenfield acres.
First Solar just opened a $1.1 billion integrated solar PV manufacturing plant in Louisiana capable of producing 3.5 gigawatts of panels each year. The plant will employ >700 people electrek.co/2025/11/21/f... 🔌💡

I think all the time how Biden and the IRA kicked off a huge wave of factory investment and CapEx in EVs, solar, wind, batteries, chips, etc. all of the physical things. Trump and the GOP killed it and all that’s left is a house of cards of data centers.

While it’s important to retain a healthy skepticism wrt to Greene, sometimes it does take a person touching the hot stove with both hands to learn. Doesn’t absolve her of helping turn the stove on in the first place.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

Looks like Floridas back in play!
The Trump admin is planning to say that being from Cuba (or any other travel ban country) is a "significant negative factor" that could lead to a denial of any of several discretionary immigration benefits (like green cards).

Seriously; national origin discrimination as official government policy.

The public sector, from Feds down to the municipal level & even things like port authorities are being bled dry by low-productivity processes in the name of “jobs”. See: opposition to trash containerization, driverless trains, port automation, etc. This makes our gov services more $$$ & less useful.
In Paris, specially equipped trucks pick up neighborhood recycling bins.

This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

A major failing of American education is that it implies a stance that slavery, Nazism, etc was a view held by certain elites that wasn’t popular amongst most of the population.
But it’s not true! Slavery enjoyed widespread support in the South & even parts of the North and the Nazis won elections!
"If something evil is popular, is it still evil?" is basically the defining social question of our time.

Can I just say that the police and Feds are getting real lazy with their false flags. At least try to make it look plausible.
This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.

George Washington would come back and strangle Trump, the billionaire who offered this, and the GOP for even thinking this is acceptable. And Washington was not known for being quick to anger.
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."

I'm not sure how to amicably coexist in a country where half of my neighbors are this guy and the other half voted for this raid to happen
My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
