A reader (who wished to remain anonymous for reasons of naturalization status) passed along to me their version of a Battle Hymn of Minneapolis, which I now share with you.

'Tis, as they say, a banger.

No matter how much contempt you think you have for the mainstream US press, you don’t have enough.
You could imagine similar situations in which members of the media coordinated in solidarity around Lemon to direct sustained negative attention to Trump over this story. Instead the political press spent the earlier part of the week making up a fake story ("new tone") to help Trump.
This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.

The thread is about defense, but this is an important point: to the US government, contracts are temporary and can be yanked or zeroed out at any time. It’s insane - in private sector you’d wind up with a judgment worth 3x the broken contract but for the federal govt good luck. Huge disincentive.
Politics on the Hill being what they are means even contracts have to be regarded as fickle things. Changing that culture/behavior will be key.

The other option is expensive up front but should pay off by driving down lead ship costs and integration issues: let the Navy experiment.

Jfc the guy ICE executed in cold blood was an ICU nurse at the VA.

When we say Trump and MAGA are un-American, this is what we mean: fascist thugs executing patriots serving those who gave their all to our nation.
Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

Bovino should become so afraid of prosecution he flees to Argentina to be with his kindred spirits
Bovino shamelessly lies: "This looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement"

The GOP is the party of tax cheats and grifters. Work hard, pay your taxes? Screw you! Move your money offshore, lie on your taxes, claim dependents and deductions you aren’t entitled to? You’ve got a friend in the GOP!
Not often (or at all) mentioned regrading the funding package that just passed the House: 11.7 billion dollars cut to IRS budget. Because really, who needs taxes anyway.

Just to be clear, this is textbook “violating 4th Amendment rights”.

This is insane not just the explicit "go break the 4A" substance but how they knew how bad it was, acting in guilty paranoia to cover it up and suppress the written evidence.

This isn't how running a government agency works. This is what a criminal conspiracy looks like, because that's what it is.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Remember when the GOP (falsely) claimed Obama weaponized the IRS against conservatives? Pepperidge farm remembers.
Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul has until Wednesday to turn over employment records to the Department of Homeland Security as part of a surprise audit launched Friday, just hours after one of the shop's owners criticized ICE agents during a television interview. bit.ly/4r5AFol

Also it’s a feedback loop. Gallego is a well known moderate - him taking the “Abolish ICE” associates it with the moderate faction!
even moderate members of congress are finally realizing that the BS they've been sold about centrism from the democratic consultant industrial complex fails to account for uncertainty or shifting public opinion, and thus has zero external validity here in the real world. let me just say: welcome!

You know, there was 10+ GW of offshore wind power under active development with PPAs before Trump f**ked it up. But please Mr. President tell me how we need more electricity.

No, this is actually a good (if modest) step in the right direction. It gets rid of the secret part of secret police. That’s good!
It’s genuinely a pleasure as an academic looking at the problem of incipient authoritarianism and the many no-win dilemmas of liberal democracies trying to defend themselves to see something like this and be able to confidently say: no, this is just dumb.

Customs back to Treasury, Immigration back to State, Border Patrol gets turned into an uniformed branch put under Coast Guard and moved also under State.
It's a very easy Q to ask Dems. Yes or no, do you want to abolish? Strong pols like AOC can take the Q and explain what they actually want.

(I still think not having a response to the Q is a political risk, as is saying "yes" without explaining how you'd enforce law, but duh.)
ive seen more articles this week about how the phrase “abolish ice” could hurt dems in the midterms than ive seen articles about how paramilitary death squads terrorizing cities will hurt republicans in the midterms

I think if @mcuban.bsky.social ran for the Dems in TX he’d be the favorite. And his entire campaign is easy - he knows business, he knows the business of healthcare, and he knows where to legislate to bring prices down for healthcare and prescription drugs.
Big, big get for Democrats, who now have an honest-to-God, no-squinting path to the Senate majority (NC, ME, OH, AK).

Trump really wants a replay of 2020 Floyd protests where he gets to shoot people in the street.
They’re leaking the video because the end goal of all of this has been triggering riots, I genuinely believe

Quite famously the cartels do NOT run Mexico. Otherwise, you know, their gang leaders wouldn’t be getting constantly caught and extradited.
Trump, in a sit down interview on Fox News aired just now, said the US will be conducting land strikes against the cartels.

"We are gonna start now hitting land, with regard to the cartels. The cartels are running Mexico."
