cutting in all the times trump used the same words makes this, weirdly, one of the most effective ads I've seen about Epstein

Holy crap. Trump will make the FCC crucify Jimmy Kimmel for this.

This era is marked by a lot of ppl being unable to reconcile with the fact that dumb/sloppy/lazy ppl can sometimes win & even be successful for a time but that doesnt make them not dumb/sloppy/lazy.

A thing I've noticed a bunch over the last several years is that ppl in very elite/educated spaces look at ppl outside of that doing stupid shit & think "well they must have some savvy method here that i'm not privy to" and like, nah, sometimes things are as they appear & ppl are just stupid

I say that not because of credentialism or anything, but that his ideas of how to use the law are basic at best and not some genius way to interpret it.

I’m so fucking sick of the “DO SomEThINgs!”
We warned them if Trump & Republicans won this would happen, now they’re yelling at Democratic leaders who are in the minority & have no power to save them from their own actions.

I think about how Betty White could have sat in a theater and watched Sinkin' in the Bathroom when it premiered, watched the first episode of The Flintstones on ABC, watched Fraggle Rock on HBO, and watched many episodes of Bluey on Disney+.

This shit is why the media is the enemy of the people.

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

Really feels like the whole “we’re openly and giddily announcing how excited we are to permanently fire federal employees” thing is backfiring. They’ve created a narrative where everyone understands that they like the shutdown and are excited about it, which makes “the mean Dems did this” fizzle.

All Trump needs to do is scream “enemy of the people” & make violent threats against them and they’ll fall in line again.
acunaandrew.bsky.social
What’s hilarious about this is all Trump needs to do is scream “the media is the enemy of the people” & threaten violence against them again and they’ll fall back in line.
And now not even the public will defend the media, bc they’ve been bad faith actors for so long.
Oh well. Bye Felicia.

Everything starts breaking down when you pepper spray the priests. Tale as old as time.

NEW: I spoke to clergy and faith leaders who've joined protests at the Chicago-area ICE facility.

Three say they've been shot with pepper balls, sometimes while praying.

All say ICE is also violating their religious freedom, and one is arguing it in court. religionnews.com/2025/10/07/i...
Religious protesters say ICE threatens religious freedom in Chicago
(RNS) — Despite potential danger, religious leaders and faith activists have been a visible presence at Chicago-area ICE protests, some waving signs with slogans such as ‘Love thy neighbor’ and ‘Who w...

“We would be happy to talk about healthcare once irresponsible Democrats allow the government to reopen” is easy to sell, “We are glad the government is shutdown / it lets us fire people!! / but it’s Dems’ fault / also they are doing to give healthcare to illegals!!! / But it’s good for us” is…. I actually think the GOP had a very easy strategy to deploy here, the same one that is always deployed by the president to win shutdowns: “Other Party is holding the budget hostage to their demands!” But the party has gone high on its own supply instead

It's worth noting that the entire GOP strategy is that the public would blame the democrats because apparently they read the same centrist idiots we all do.

“The air traffic system, in general, is stressed to the max,” a veteran air traffic controller working at a major East Coast airport told Forbes on Tuesday, adding “sick outs will continue to happen because the [controllers] aren’t fit for duty.”

Cracks in the air travel system are widening, as air traffic controllers bear the strain of an understaffed system and no pay until the government shutdown ends.

This is Adelita Grijalva.

She was elected to Congress two weeks ago, officially making her the final vote needed to force the release of the Epstein files.

She has still not been sworn in because Mike Johnson refuses to do so.

There was a time in the 2016-2019 era that I was the typical white woman who thought wearing a safety pin and saying all lives matter was being an ally. It took watching and listening to unlearn the bad stuff and learn the good stuff. I'm always a work in progress.

This is why I do it. I'm not just being petty. I'm not just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. Not... just. 😜

Believe it or not, in addition to tickling my petty bone, there is actually a constructive, calculated purpose behind what I do here.

it was not a weekend news dump and now they’re making up a thing about how they’re going to withhold back pay, which is just straightforwardly black letter law now. they got nothing and Vought is having the worst work day of his life right now.

still no real naked exercise of executive power justified by the shutdown.

my dad thinks it’s still coming and they’re going to do whatever Vought has cooking as a weekend news dump, and he’s pretty sharp, so maybe. still think the longer it goes the more it isn’t really happening
