Here's my regular pitch: if all you want to do is log, track, and tag things, use the Book Riot Reading Log. Adjust the date to 2026, but everything else should work as expected. You can skip GR/SG/whatever other *social* sites if your goal is to track and tag!

The people who talk about expanding the tent are never, ever actually expanding the tent. They want to pick up the tent and move it rightwards. If the tent were getting bigger, letting in new people would not require pushing other people out, which the metaphorical expansion somehow always does.

I’m not sure if these type of comments are normal over on the Mother Jones Instagram account but the “we shouldn’t be focusing on this/who cares about this/don’t pick on Jon!” comments on this post over there stink! This is literally the publication’s disability and public health beat reporter!

I am surrounded by lamentations that we are in silos, silo-this, silo-that, and I agree. But I’m starting to think a lot of people (those same people lamenting) like it that way. Or are ok with it. Defend it even, knowingly and unknowingly.

I went back to listening the the Neuromancer audiobook and, honestly, I’m just listening for the vibe now. I’ll re-read it later. I’ll listen to the audiobook again and read it in print. I actually want to! I’m glad I picked it up this year. Now I get the references!
