The wife fell behind on Death Stranding 2, but wanted to watch me test out some stuff.

Their reaction to Dollman (among other things) was priceless.

"It is a screwball chump-chase transposed into the register of drama, with George playing the part of the chump. Mary could marry any man in town. She doesn’t want to. She wants George."
There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

True, but also John McLane starts the movie emotionally closed off, incapable of facing his problems. He emotionally opens up after enduring searing pain (the glass), and in the end only triumphs after putting himself in a vulnerable position he actively avoids at the beginning.

I don't think I'm gonna see Avatar 3, but man Avatar haters are all either Harry Potter adults or people who think Game of Thrones was peak art and I don't need that kind of energy around me

I remember when these guys published a "defense of Betsy DeVos" when she was getting approved for secretary of education that said nothing about her actual record. Do you guys have any standards? Like at all?

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

The TV show IT: WELCOME TO DERRY posits a scenario where the U.S. Air Force conducts an operation to weaponize the titular It for the kind of insane Cold War death cult shit the USAF had gotten up to.

Cool, interesting, little hammy and on the nose but workable premise.

Why did they stop, though?

The most terrifying funny thing I encounter every day for my job is people going 40-55 in a school zone, only to have to stop a couple seconds earlier at the same red light I arrive at going the speed limit.

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Any given trans person (particularly one in any role of power or prestige) is at risk of being forcibly cast as the villain in an algorithmic right-wing fairy tale by some grifter who's greatest dream in life is to be a pitchman for crypto schemes and off-brand fertility supplements
every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades
