Picard management tip: Don't just be yourself. Be the best version of yourself. Recall who you were on your best day. Be that person again.

Have you noticed how sometimes you get a technology from childhood scienece fiction and it just kinda doesn't matter? E.g. everyone has a Dick Tracy watch now and it's neat but not that big a deal. Or like my kids have amazing VR, but are more into YouTube.

One more--this is just so cool:

Firefly Aerospace has released the full image sequence of a solar eclipse from the surface of the Moon. The dark object moving in front of the Sun is Earth. The lunar landscape is lit red by all the sunrises & sunsets in the world. 🧪

I feel like, for most people, the hardest part might be starting to ask the _right_ questions
Learning to use LLMs like Gemini and ChatGPT are the easiest tech tools to learn. Ever. Just start asking it questions.

finally finished Lex Fridman's interview with Andrej Karpathy. it's two years old now but somehow it doesn't feel outdated.
two things that I liked the most from it:
- the 10k-hour rule - nothing new, but a good reminder
- humor as a benchmark for AGI - quite an interesting idea

If you are truly passionate about Programming do not work as a Software Engineer in the foreseeable future. It's gonna drain all the passion and soul out of you. Keep it a hobby until the market and culture around it changes. In fact you are gonna be the change.

The more I build software, the more I despise dependencies. I greatly prefer people copy/pasting stuff into their own code bases or re-implement it. Unfortunately the vibe of the time does not embrace that idea much. I need that vibe shift.
