Different Alan Scott than the Green Lantern one, but we are both gay.

Were I ever actually to get off my but and post stuff, I'd be posting about Tabletop, Comics, Mixology, Current Events, and Retail Management.

Sacramento, California, USA.
I would not want to learn magic from John Constantine, no matter how good at magic he is. I would not want to fuck John Constantine no matter how good a lover he is. I would not want to ever meet John Constantine, because I do not want to die or explode or get sucked into hell.
You get 1 teacher to teach you magic
There's one correct answer.

Bigotry is not a working class value, and it's awfully condescending to assume that it is.

Anyway, affordability is a problem (build more houses) and we need to bring down costs (build more houses) but I don't think that effort (building more houses) is aided by deceptive comparisons that imply no real increase in living standards since 1843, a thing which is obviously, laughably untrue.

I think a fair bit of RPG discourse mistakes "most players don't care about RPG theory" (true) with "most players don't care about the things that theory is about" (false).

It is fair to say that I have known very few players who actually care about stance theory in the abstract.

This is why we need to start talking about this shit now, and not wait until after we vote them out. Dem leadership with blinders on talking about "kitchen table issues" when actual folks at actual kitchen tables are talking about tribunals.
Like I think we will have widespread support for “that was very bad” but I think we are going to have a lot of difficulty arriving at “and these are the solutions”

new york democrats shouldn't be let anywhere near power. the ideal democratic leader is a guy who won by 2 percent and actually thinks of the GOP, rather than other Democrats, as the enemy.

A good analysis of a good movie
Don’t read this if you haven’t watched the new Knives Out movie but I wrote about how the series only works because Blanc doesn’t treat the mysteries like a game but is always protecting the most vulnerable individual in the case

There’s several tensions at work in the new Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man — religious belief vs nonbelief / atheism, innocence vs guilt, love vs hate, what a community looks like, what is the tru...

The best way to understand the current regime is that we're effectively being governed by an unofficial, extra-constitutional junta mostly dominated by Miller, in which Trump himself is a marginal and disengaged figurehead making few if any substantive decisions.
it is the worst of all worlds. a "unitary *presidency*" insulated from judicial or congressional power and a weak president unable to do the job of governing

I'm sure most of my gamer peeps know that the Wizard/Sorcerer distinction didn't show up in D&D until 2001. But that's nothing compared to how the anachronistic Stihl model is blowing up in Chainsaw social media circles.

That said, damn is this season of Stranger Things cool as hell.

See, when I'm facilitating #ttrpgs, I'm there to be entertained by the antics of the OTHER players.

I AM THE AUDIENCE, not the performer; yeah, I'll do my bit parts, and set design, and stage management and lighting.

But your PCs are the STARS OF THE SHOW, so make with the roles/rolls and SHINE!
Too many people wants the GM to provide the fun while they don’t do a damn thing to help anyone. Fuck that. Everyone has the responsibility to help everyone at the table have fun

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."

There's a lot to criticize in 4E, from how classes and races were split up to bad MMs to having a boring armor system (again), but that's not usually what people complained about. They parroted dumb complaints with little direct knowledge, and for it they should be pursued by hounds across the moor.
having played 4e, it ain't really all that, especially the early monster manuals. The internal drama at WotC really hamstrung what could have been an okay game.

13th Age was better.
