I finally got some time to flesh out my rant about these headlines...
TL;DR: age differences ≠ aging

Something is very very very rotten. This could be me, you, or anyone deemed “suspicious” or “a threat”.

And this story should have aired.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

This book has contributed to so much online misinformation. In our study, we've documented now that there's a belief that CBT is HARMFUL or ineffective for trauma :S You know, the literal opposite of what seems to be true. Often propagated by "somatic" therapists www.jmir.org/2023/1/e45571/

I've used Lavaan almost every (work)day for 15 years, but this open source labour of love has never received proper institutional support. I'm delighted to be a small part of an 1.5M OpenScienceNL award, led by Jorgensen, to completely revamp and futureproof Lavaan www.openscience.nl/en/news/45-p...

Drawing actionable conclusions from data starts with being clear about what the data are telling us! Given how prevalent the PHQ is, it’s concerning that we might be unsure of what it’s actually measuring.
1/n Out today in @jamapsychiatry.com: Interpretation Issues With the Patient Health Questionnaire Instructions. We find troubling variability in whether people think they should respond based on the frequency of the Sx or the frequency of being bothered by the Sx.

Go Leily!! Super important work that gets at a central question in working with ordinal data 📊
New preprint alert🚨

We often rely on 0-10 scales to assess suicide urges in EMA and clinical settings. But we rarely ask a surprisingly important question:

What do these numbers mean?

In our new paper, we examine what these ratings mean and how consistently people use them.

Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

Okay I’ve settled on an answer: Diehard is a movie that takes place during Christmas, but it isn’t a Christmas movie. However, it’s still appropriate to watch during the Christmas szn, like how horror movies are appropriate for Halloween

Whenever I hear someone's competency for court seemed ok except for some struggles around plea deals, I'm like...

But over 95% of criminal cases end in plea deals!

You must assume this person is gonna be faced w/ a deal, & they NEED to show they can understand one!

For example, on the outside, it costs almost nothing to create/share videos. Behind bars, it can cost up to $1.50 – which is A LOT when you consider prison wages can be as low as $0.04/hour

It's clear this is a gross continuation of exploitation of a vulnerable population
