The Midnight Baker Who Bakes at Midnight. She/her (they/m in a pinch), religion: cake. Baked devotionals and other offbeat stuff at feraltomatoes.com. No worries, my existence infuriates me too.
Signal boost, on the off chance a local sees this.
A neighbor was taken to a care facility, and her little tortoiseshell kitty was left behind. I can't take her in but I've been feeding her and giving her water every day. No one in the neighbor's family can take her in. Is there anyone in the Inland Empire area that could foster or adopt her?

I, uh...may have been artistically influenced by this show in more profound ways than I thought
Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

Watching doc about resilience that reaffirms many changes I made last few years to my mental outlook (I read a LOT of brain books). Brains are hallucination engines. If the story is the world is shit, everything is fucked, brain reframes every interaction this way. It impacts behavior; shuts us down

Yep, full Cardassia. TBH I'd rather have the Dominion, you could have the right ambassador TALK to them
This slogan adopted by Kristi Noem, "One of Ours, All of Yours," is taken from the Nazis, who retaliated for the killing of an SS officer by murdering all the inhabitants of the Czech village of Lidice, apparently none of whom had anything to do with it, and razing the village to the ground.

The DS9 finale complex has given me a level of *toh* that I didn't know it was capable of. Like, I never SAW more than one episode of S7 but so much of it went to places I've gone or planned to go in my writing. I guess it amounts to: I stole more than just Kira.

Amazingly this is still how it works. I'd been tearing my hair out trying to figure out WHYYYYY none of my preferences inside the application were sticking. KEYBOARD, really??? It's a bit of a stretch anymore to say predictive text is an accessibility function.

Pervasive mindset, inculcated by parents for generations.
The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

The number of times I've told an enraged child I'm not mad at them and it's made them angrier

You can tell you're talking to a grown adult when they're relieved

There is no placating man-babies, each extreme hates the other and can't get away from it, and they blame everyone but themselves

Wild how nobody seems to remember the 90's push to purge "girl" from workplaces when talking about women, and how it worked so well there were accounts of colleagues being asked if their impending baby was a boy or a woman

This is exactly how you get to "underage women"

Just found this gem. WHOSE email are they personalizing my experience with? And am I right that it shouldn't count as agreement, prima facie, if I'm not the one who turned it on?

I still have the "NO ICE CAMPS" sign I speed-painted on the posterboard I stole from my son early in 2017. There have been so many more signs to make, but I refuse to paint over it. I need to keep that energy.
What is the thing that will make you go outside and protest and/or provide support services (like childcare) so someone else can go protest?

If your answer is “I don’t know” maybe it’s time to figure it out.

2 calls with the CVS bot got me first hung up on and then sent to voice mail. Walking in got my issue solved in less time than both calls, wait time included.

Also "did you put a paper bag in the bagging area" no, you dumbass machine, it's canvas and you won't be charging me for it
