the cycle of “devs working for years to make a game > game launches (and it doesn’t matter how successful it is) > two week waiting period > most of the team laid off” is not only entirely unsustainable but genuinely horrifying
Highguard developer Wildlight has reportedly laid off most of its team, says one a level designer sharing the news of layoffs.

The live service game launched just two weeks ago after being revealed at The Game Awards.

Together, we raised over $600,000 for @translifeline.org this year. From the bottom of my heart, I'm so grateful. We have come together to say to our trans friends and family that they are loved and that they are not alone.

Trans rights are human rights.

When we gather together, we can make Magic.

"None of this would have happened under Harris" is wishful thinking which denies the violence that the US state still inflicted when she was VP, & also doesn't matter.

You must build something BEYOND bourgeois duopoly, rather than bemoaning that your uncle doesn't have access to a time machine.

i am so frustrated by my university's add/drop/swap policy. the fact that students can put themselves on my roster a full 3 weeks into the semester does all of us a terrible disservice and has me actively begging and pleading with students to drop my classes for THEIR own sakes. UGH. 😡

Did you know you can do things? That the horrors of the world are being carried out by people who only do so because the *feel* protected, by money, & pieces of paper, & fear? Did you know all of that can be taken away if enough of you are organized? Did you know the world is yours to win?

If we want to get into it the ending they "deserve" was the end of the first game, every subsequent story (despite being good or not to varying degrees) has been supurflous. Also Life is Strange stopped being interesting with Exposure, to me at least, soley because it gave up and returned to Max
Life is Strange: Reunion announced, releasing on March 26th news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/0...

"By and for fans of the original, Life is Strange: Reunion finally brings Max and Chloe’s saga to a definitive close."

i did like Double Exposure quite a bit until it was like Max Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday, so i'm withholding judgment, but it is hard not to feel like this series has retreated to safety after it seemed like it was going to be an anthology about people from different walks of life.

I’ve seen a lot of people share the sentiment that AI getting more pervasive could be good because it will make everyone get offline. I don’t share that optimism! I have seen nothing to indicate that online spaces getting worse encourages people to leave them—in fact, I think we’ve seen the opposite

TMNT cards are showing up as promo cards for Lorwyn Eclipsed Prereleases.

These Universes Beyond sets really like stepping on the toes of Lorwyn!
(1/2 🧵) We're aware of reports of ECL prerelease kits containing foil promo cards from an incorrect set. This is not intentional and, if possible, stores should replace these promos with the appropriate ECL promos from other prerelease kits.

teaching this to my ethics students last semester was revelatory for them: we cannot build a better world until people let go of their *desires* to harm, which is one of the drives behind the desire to punish. there is real evil in this world but no epistemology will itself thwart this nasty fact.
Gently: I think the sweet little leftist fiction that right-wing politics are the result of epistemic gaps---that you can just newsletter and educate and evangelize your way to leftism---is dead.

Consider: many people want to hurt others. Want to feel superior. Want to inflict pain on the lesser.

There are lots of reasons to compare what is happening now to Nazi Germany and there are also lots of reasons to compare what is happening now to the post-1850 Fugitive Slave Act U.S. and it's *weird* how people respond with interest to the former but total confusion to the latter

These companies may now face for even more liability for violating copyrights. 1/

Any studio that says they're only using their own assets for an A.I. model is lying to you, likely intentionally.

Generative A.I. models require an insane amount of existing work to create anything that looks new and decent. Categorizing said data would take years.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."

oldhead advice from an oldhead.

every couple years, newcomers to the movement think "THIS is finally it, the moment when the dam breaks and the whole system is overthrown"

and when it doesn't happen they lose patience and get disillusioned and drop out of movement work
