If you can't afford to pay for books you want to read, getting that book from the library instead of pirating it enables authors to get paid for their work *and* lets you read the book for free. The Libby app is your BFF.
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

People, if you are too poor to pay an author for their work, I have a solution for you. Your local public library is FREE and will gladly help you find a legitimate ebook version that you can check out, for free.

Don’t steal; use your local public library.

I haven’t talked to my parents since 2016. I don’t regret or miss that in the least. Huge stressor gone from my life. ❤️
It's the start of the "holiday season" for Americans this week and I always feel like it's a good time to mention that you do not have to go see your family and especially your parents for any reason if it's going to be a bad time.

Imagine a reality where you don't suffer through this process.

No joke would anyone actually be interested in this really stupid idea I just had

It's not "helping you write" it's telling you want to write. Tell me what to think, tell me what to say, tell me what to buy, tell me what to do. So it's not outside the norm/average.

Depend on me for every thought, word, idea, decision.

It's interesting how easily a lot of ppl say oh it's over, it's inevitable just use it.

Most Artists I know aren't like that. From day one. They are built different. They are resistant to conformity. You're not going to tell them what to do or say.

Don't tell me what to say gpt. I speak for me.

I have said the drama class kids, and art weirdos along with the band kids and writing club are on the front lines here.
Reading about AI being subverted by adversarial poetry and Russian drones' navigation systems jammed by Ukranian folk anthems, which suggests the opening future 'human rebels' scenes of Terminator may now have to be revised.

PayPal is doing this to sus out artist who create NSFW content like me and other folks in the server. By giving them feedback, you are not only putting artists like me at risk of being banned from the site, but also YOUR OWN account.

PayPal has rolled out a new "feature" that prompts you to leave feedback about an artist that you've commissioned via invoice.

Whatever you do, DO NOT fill this out! To quote Admiral Ackbar, "IT'S A TRAP!!!" It is meant to misguide you.

When these things work well they can work *really well*. See Alphafold.

The animosity should not be misplaced.

The dipshits burning the world up to use a bloated autocomplete as a stand-in for human thought and creativity are the ones to blame.

LLMs are just text autocomplete. Video and image generators are just a photo labeler glued to an image denoiser.

They are built from simple parts that do specific types of things. When you see that you can see where the scam is.

At its most simple form any ML model is a just a blob of math that you optimize to produce desired outputs from some type of inputs.

Like categorizing items, identifying anomalies, etc. It's *specific* in purpose.

LLMs and GenAI are no different, you're just getting scammed about what they do.

This. I've been working with "machine learning" since before the current AI-fever and it's an invaluable tool in science and engineering.

LLMs and GenAI are being misused in a criminally negligent way and using misplaced legitimacy to do it, and that misdirect cannot be allowed to continue.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

Just so it's clear. It's not allowing AI because it's trying to create a clean dataset for training AI. It's not because any of the involved parties actually care about human created art.

Demons can lie to you. You have to rebuke them categorically, rather than fold when they say the right words.
Vine is being rebooted under the name diVine, with funding from Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey.

The app plans to feature more than 10,000 previously archived Vines and does not allow AI-generated content.

Honestly, the “genAI is a calculator” metaphor really falls apart because if your calculator gave you the wrong answer even 5% of the time, you’d be swearing at Casio to give you your money back, not fawning about how it’s so close to being revolutionary.
My calculator didn’t rely on bastardizing years of unrelated disciplines to give me the answer I remembered the right steps to calculate.

My calculator doesn’t remember 12 year olds typing “poo poo pee pee” into it and assume popularity equals correctness.
