It does make me love the folks who go out of their way to promote real artists and reject ai.

Hell even if they don't like the thing an artist makes at least they're engaging with an appreciation and honesty toward the medium. Not this expectation the artist needs to create like a factory.

the job loss
the burning of the earth.

But the people who blindly use/consume it.

AI has revealed the ugly part of society that just consumes the art and expects it and feels entitled to it.

Yes, the underlying reason for the need for this is horrifying, stipulated, but watching so many people stand up and defend their neighbors and their community is a heartening reminder that the people who suck are not the majority even if they are the power

Was just at a neighborhood school at dismissal. Hundreds of people with whistles surrounding the school and stationed down every block making sure ICE doesn’t snatch anyone. The same is happening at all the schools around here. I love my neighborhood and I love Chicago.

It's pretty wild to me that investigators have uncovered that anti-trans campaigns are largely funded by the fossil fuel industry, and that the presumed motivations are pretty directly to redirect the public conversation away from climate change... and that this isn't bigger news.

Gay marriage was legalized and the GOP had to find a new target to demonize. They picked the smallest most vulnerable minority group they could find and went ham. Rehashed the same dog whistles with new phrasing just like they’ve done over and over.

Nationalist authoritarian Christian. Christian doesn’t automatically mean good person. Hardly the first time the Bible’s been used as a weapon to hurt vulnerable populations. They can be sincere in their beliefs and still be terrible people. These folks make cognitive dissonance an art.

Reasons I never told my parents I was taking it when I was in college, heh. Didn’t want to be lectured about how I was “killing my potential babies”. Plus I was an adult and it was none of their business. Not that it would have stopped them.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
