The data show that when you let more women and racial/ethnic minorities into your academic society they tend to be overrepresented doing the service work of your society. Isn’t that interesting? #ACNP2026

I would, I think, normally have dismissed or at least shrugged at the Governor’s invocation of MN as a special place with its own ethos and distinct moral identity.

But I lived there. And it’s true.

I’m happy to see the new American Cancer Society report showing that the U.S. has reached a historic milestone in cancer survivorship, where 70% of patients live for 5+ years after diagnosis.

But I also see it as a requiem, because the systems that made it happen have been destroyed.

Better treatment options have improved survival rates in the U.S., according to a report from the American Cancer Society.

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

Unarmed American citizens are being executed by Trump's Gestapo and the job market is the weakest we've seen this century. But some of tonight's Golden Globes speeches went on too long. I have never felt more politically homeless.

In delegating personnel authority to Presidents, Congress erred on the side of giving them flexibility, even as some realized that the system assumed a well-intentioned manager, rather than a fox in the henhouse. They relied on norms, rather than hard constraints.
