I write fantasy, usually with a romance in it somewhere. My online home is currently amykeeley.wordpress.com. My books are available at a number of places.
Fantastic news! Absolutely loved Danger Mouse as a kid, and Wind in the Willows was fun and soothing.

Hey listeners…

Something I keep coming back to is this —
we’re not always meant to fix what’s heavy.

Sometimes it’s enough to just stay present, keep listening,
and let something beautiful sit beside what hurts.

Music helps with that.
It gives our feels a resting place for a while.

GenAI companies keep claiming the books and copyrighted works their programed were "trained" on without permission didn't retain complete copies in their systems. This was a lie.

These companies may now face for even more liability for violating copyrights. 1/

Yes! This book is amazing. It was like medicine for my soul, too.
I am currently reading 'My Roommate is a Vampire' by @jennalevine.bsky.social and it is like medicine for my frazzled soul.

I just thought everyone should know because maybe I'm not the only one who feels like they're living in a dumpster fire, and maybe you need this book too.

*rubs my nose* okay, let’s try to explain this one more time.

Think of your book like a food item, and AI like nuts.

« Nuts free » would be you being 100% sure no AI even looked in the direction of your manuscript

Excellent thread. Very important point.
So I am going to say something about romance as a genre.

A lot of people think that romance is ignorable because <insert thing they think about romance> and romance authors don't count because <insert thing they think about romance>.

This thread is not about whether you have to like romance.

The news about Harlequin translators getting fired en masse?

You should care about that. They're doing it there because they think nobody gives a shit about romance and so it's fine to experiment with it first.

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

You can see some of these stereotypes - the simple, morally pure countryside vs. the morally compromised, inauthentic city - play out in Greek and Roman literature.

So this is a very old idea that recurs regularly.
Do other countries have this weird notion that you’re not a “real” representative of the nation if you live in an urban center? Like do the French say Parisians aren’t really French? Are you considered not a real German if you live in Berlin? Or is this mainly a weird American thing?
