Non-protesting dad just trying to hustle his kids, as young as 6mo, out of the neighborhood. ICE threw a flash-bang INTO HIS car, all 6 kids in the hospital now.

If anyone wondered how things turn against occupying armies there's a case study playing out in front of you.
That is what was relayed

I’m actually very happy for James Comer and House Republicans to establish the precedent that former presidents should be hauled before congressional committees to be questioned about Epstein, pardons and other matters.

On one hand, this is horrifying. But on the other, it's darkly humorous to hear the Europeans explain to Washington that standard military operating procedure is to have your soldiers shoot back if you are being invaded as if they are informing a toddler of armies.
Minister of Defense: If you are attacked, you must defend the Kingdom

Troels Lund Poulsen is asked what the Defense should do if soldiers are attacked in Greenland.

Troels Lund Poulsen calls this a 'hypothetical situation' - especially that one NATO country should attack another NATO country.

It was profoundly awful to realize past acquaintances would report Ann Frank to the gestapo for “Breaking the law.”

Up until the second he was elected in 2016, I honestly did not believe there was any chance Trump would become President because I ALSO thought amoral but rational capitalists controlled everything. I grotesquely overestimated the "rational" part.
I also previously thought amoral but rational capitalists used rubes by cynically deploying vicious / silly right wing ideologies. But I now think I underestimated how many true believers there are, some of the previously rational got internet brain poison, and there's been change in who's in power.
i had sincerely thought that sexism was a dying prejudice because, in all honesty, up until 2025 i also sincerely believed on at least some level that powerful capitalists with rational but amoral priorities controlled everything and understood the value women bring to the workforce

Since 2016, I've been telling people that Trump is emotionally exoskeletal. There are no hidden depths, no secret heart. You can trust that what he says at any given moment is exactly what he feels *at that time*. It might change; it likely will. He's an emotional amoeba lurching between impulses.
All art about Trump will end up being pro-Trump propaganda simply by virtue of writers and directors giving him more depth than he has. There really is nothing else there. He's just a mobster. He has *no* depth. Zero. None. He likes steak and blondes and gold. That's all there is to him.

Indeed, in fact on this day 534 years ago, the U.S.S. Nimitz, with two guided-missile cruisers with escort, actually discovered Greenland and the colors of the United States as well as a large "Go Navy" banner were planted on the frigid shores near Nuuk.

Navy beat Army 31-17 that year, by the way.
Trump: "I'm a fan of Denmark too. They've been very nice to me. But the fact that they had a boat land there [Greenland] 500 years ago doesn't mean they own the land. I'm sure we had lots of boats go there also."

I think, every so often, about how the student protesters in South Korea figured out there was a finite supply of tear gas, and then staged retreating marches that caused police to burn off most of it, before the big "bring your auntie and kids" marches that ultimately toppled the dictatorship.

A friendly reminder that no ICE officer has ever been killed in the line of duty in a hostile incident.

The industries that illegal immigrants often work in — like landscaping and construction — are far more deadly and dangerous work than being an ICE officer.
If you’re scared of a Honda Pilot driving less than 5 miles an hour, with its wheels pointing away from you, you should not be working in law-enforcement…

You shouldn’t have a gun. You shouldn’t have a badge. You should find a new line of work.

Ah well. Can't disagree here really. Americans did vote for masked agents of the state to kill innocent people, whether they understood that at the time or not. Too bad they didn't listen to anyone who tried to explain it to them bsky.app/profile/atru...

No one who treated "wear a mask when you enter this store" as horrific tyranny actually believe in deference to state authority.

It's Schmittian friend-enemy politics all the way down. "We" should be able to do whatever we feel like without consequence. "They" should be harassed, repressed, killed.

It dramatically changes the narrative when you realize that the shooter was already in an argument with an occupant of the victim's car immediately prior to the shooting. ICE agents arrived and rushed the car creating chaos, and then he started blasting the people he was arguing with in the face
*THIS*

I didn't realize the person in the white hat was the shooter's wife. But this is what I realized last night. It's confusing due to the different angles and how he moves out of frame, but the shooter doesn't come from a car. He's the guy at the *back* antagonizing white hat w/ a camera prior.
Apparently the shooter was involved in some sort of argument with the victim's wife immediately prior? And was filming at the moment of shooting because of that? Not exactly a leap to think he also SHOT her because her was arguing with the occupants of the car.

Better yet, disestablish all of DHS, and undo the nightmarish idiocies that we created in a panic 25 years ago. Reestablish the INS, get rid of ODNI, fix the damage from the Patriot Act, etc.

DHS murdered a mom in Minneapolis today. It could have been your mother. Your sister. Your neighbor. It could have been you. Tomorrow maybe it IS you. Your neighbor. Your sister. Your mother.

There is no justice that will wash this out. But we must tear the killers down anyway. Or it is us next.
