I heard TPS was doing a micro-mobility safety blitz, so who do I talk to about this?

The global phenomenon of “bikelash” has become one of the biggest barriers to implementing interventions that make our streets more liveable, accessible and sustainable. So how do we best manage it as advocates for change? Here are eight strategies we recently presented at the Velo-city Conference.🧵

I am 100% ready to join you to “ban right on red”. Montreal has this, but only because that’s the way it always was. Other cities elected to allow right turns on red, to allow for greater traffic flow. And look who’s paying the price. Day after day, another tragedy. Make this an election issue.
The cyclist got hit at the exact same intersection I was about to bike by, it could have been me. We need to consider banning right on red in all downtown intersections. You shouldn’t be taking your life in your hands every time you walk or cycle. A woman got killed crossing the street a block away.

Question for you train-heads our there. What is preventing GO from running more southbound weekday service from Barrie-TO… ASAP. This schedule is practically useless.

The federal government set a target to double housing starts to nearly 500,000 units. Meanwhile, the CMHC forecasts that by 2027, starts will only reach 220,000 - 50,000 *fewer* than in 2021.

Despite this, there is no urgency whatsoever from the feds to address this issue.

The recent move by @chrismoise.ca to place those boneheaded "Walk Your Bike or Scooter" decals (along with disabling replies) is not the only recent anti #BikeTO thing he has done. He also had a short contraflow on Ontario Street downgraded from a cycle track to bike lane. #shame #TOpoli #VisionZero

I think it’s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes I’ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.
