PFP- selfie - I’m a white man with pink glasses, a black fake paper moustache and beard, and a blue hood over my head.
Yesterday the plan was to try a new route to the Rouge but I left late and then hit so many trail closures (Don Trail * 2, Betty Sutherland, Earl Bales) that plans changed. It seems to me access could have been preserved in every case, but I’m not an engineer. #BikeTO

My kid has been instructed to watch Night Raiders for English class and hell yeah public education.

Hey smart tech people! The enclosure on my kid’s LaCie rugged mini #hardDrive is crapping out, so we’re going to swap out to a new enclosure. How much does the enclosure affect read-write speeds anymore? I think I remember this was a thing back in the day, but I’m not seeing talk of it now.

If you’re hosting a holiday event, please carefully curate your playlist, rather than just leaving it to Spotify. Otherwise, you and your guests will learn that Spotify believes there are only four Christmas songs, each with 2-4 cover versions, which can easily be repeated for more than 6 hours.

I can’t believe I made it to 54 before I learned that an HTML password field is just a plain text field with dots instead of characters and whatever you type is just sitting there. Now that someone looking over your shoulder has moved way down the list of concerns, why do we still use this thing?

People think "politics" is what you say, but politics is in fact how you wield power. In that sense, driving a car is one of the most profound ways to reveal what your actual politics are.

How people drive reveals the sickness at the heart of our society: wanting power, but not responsibility.
It just needs to be way easier to lose your license and your car for reckless driving, because a few months of major societal disruption 5 years ago taught people that driving in such a way that kills others or themselves is nbd
so uhhhhh is anyone going to do anything about the epidemic of drivers just blasting through red lights these days? @timdonnelly.com investigates: nygroove.nyc/why-does-no-...

One conclusion we can draw from this is that half of Ontarians trust vibes more than data. It should be a little embarrassing for a *polling firm* to not pick up on that.

New Abacus Data polling finds Ontarians prefer traffic calming infrastructure over automated speed cameras.

Half say measures like speed bumps, roundabouts and police enforcement are more effective.

This is one of the most depressing things I’ve experienced, and I am 3/4 the way through Death’s End.
NEW EPISODE: "The Creation of America's Car Culture." Producer Ilana Strauss talks to @norton.bsky.social about the two men who, in the 1920s, teamed up to sell more cars and shape the way cities handle traffic. Their legacy can be felt across the country today. podcasts.apple.com/lu/podcast/t...

Yesterday’s drive between shows at the Ironwood (Calgary) and the Bassment (Saskatoon) with the Worst Pop Band Ever. Really lucky I get to do this once in a while. The high school students in Saskatoon are THE BEST.

What Dan says
I wrote an op-ed on what I think about the fight for local neighbourhood retail (and the grousing about Badiali's) means for the urban vision of Toronto. Gift link here: www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
When even the humble corner store is impossible to open in Toronto, it’s a sign of something deeply wrong
We need to accept that Toronto is now a big city.

As @karlgroves.bsky.social says, Jonny James says your business case is hokum.
Updated adrianroselli.com/2025/10/open... to link to a post from Stephanie Stimac that I missed, Simon Willison on prompt injection attacks, a sample attack from Brave, and Chris Coyier’s surprisingly long list of agentic browsers.

On the other site, an 18-year-old Zohran canvasser described the legendary Wallace Shawn as "the actor who plays Dr. Sturgis on Young Sheldon" which is honestly adorable

I like this. People with disabilities are able to do many things, especially when we create environments for everyone. Disabled doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy. And many people are strong and fit. I'm going to stop using able-bodied and just use non-disabled.
