#MusicHistory On this in 1979, "The Only Band That Matters" aka The Clash, released one of the greatest albums in music history, LONDON CALLING. The band's 3rd album showcases one of the mightiest bands, operating at the absolute peak of its abilities, fusing punk, rockabilly, reggae, R&B, & pop.

Intentionally killing innocent people is always wrong.

Wherever in the world it happens.

You might think everyone agrees with this simple moral principle, and yet far too many people, on far too many different sections of the political spectrum, try and make exceptions to it.

It’s Second Sunday of the month. Shortly, just off Trafalgar Square, I’ll be running Captain Dan’s laundry for homeless and/or destitute asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants. I’ll probably annoy all the right people

To be fair it’s going to be very funny when these clowns invent AGI and the super intelligent machine tells everyone to get offline, avoid processed food, stroll in the woods, seek community, eschew racism, pay high marginal rates of tax and ignore the ravings of deranged billionaires.

Chic hits #1 today in 1978 with “Le Freak”, a song originally titled “F**k Off!” — and written after the band was turned away by the bouncers at Studio 54.

“We go back to my apartment really pissed off,” said Nile Rodgers, “and Bernard starts singing, ‘Ahhh, f**k off!’ .. and that became the hook.”

This is awesome. Print is such a good way to get around a bunch of distribution (and surveillance!) mechanisms that seem otherwise mandatory in this very gross economy. It is really nice to see it spelled out like this.

It works great for us, and it'll work great for other places!
404 Media is making a print zine! About the surveillance technologies used by ICE. 16 pages, riso printed. Shipping early January. Features reworked versions of our best reporting and a few new things. We're very excited! And hope to do more if people like it:

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

The evidence of corporate consolidation is everywhere.

It means more power for them and less freedom for you.
Netflix's $83 billion takeover of Warner Bros Discovery would mean more corporate consolidation.

Netflix, by far the #1 streamer, would take over HBO Max, the #3 streaming service.

This giant merger could violate antitrust law and hurt consumers.

Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?
