Just in case people want something to read over the weekend, my first book The Assassins Raven is available on Amazon.
📚 💙

A female assassin joins a quest she does not want, and gets more than she bargains for.

A mix of cozy fantasy, horror, adventure, comedy, and romance.
It is a book cover of The Assassins Raven by Anna Verner. The background is golden yellow with a picture of a black feather and sword next to the title.

The moment you entered the graveyard,
The scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears,
Quick did rise your fears
As the screams of the undead
Fill you with dread

Run, run, jump, and run!

Will you outpace
These hungry fiends
Or will you find a new place
As one of the living dead

Come forth, Baron Crescendo! Let your guitar split the sky open, for more wraiths to dazzle us!

Behold, a note from him, for you!

“The moment you entered the graveyard, the scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears.”

Finish it! With word of rhyme, before we dance to the end!

Art by Jelle Husson, featuring a haunted monastery of many sharp-tipped towers scraping at the midnight sky. The largest is in the centre of the structure’s roof, whose walls are painted white. The monastery is located above a hilly terrain of dark stone and dark green moss. A stony, twisting road leads to the monastery.

Question Four

There he is! Baron Crescendo! Oh how the skies split open to his guitar, how more of us fly in the air! And look, a note from him, just for you!

“The moment you entered the graveyard, the scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears.”

Well? Go on! Word or rhyme, continue his Muse!

No man to stand and weep for you
No woman to shed her tears
Only the arms of the empty grave
Demand that you draw near.
No place for you to run
No place for you to hide
Here is where you must remain
And with the ghosts abide

Hey, my flash fiction is still here in Dark Descent magazine Volume 14.
It is called A Good Day for Violence. I am pretty proud of it.

Go to their website Dark Holme Publishing to have a look.

Deep into the mausoleum, it led you astray.
As you take your last breath, you are sealed away.

The moment you entered the graveyard,
the scrape of ancient stone
shadowed your ears.
They waited
Knowing that moment would be...difficult
As you stepped from one world to another
And they knew it would take but a moment
After
To step into your glory
Unleash death on the world

The moment you entered the graveyard the scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears.
You lay out the blanket in between the graves, open a bottle of sparkling wine and pour yourself a glass. Who will visit tonight? You wonder excitedly. You love hearing stories of people's deaths.

I like to see what authors come up with and have fun with it.

I like trying to figure out if the ghosts are there to help, hinder, scare us, or just have no idea what's happening.

…You turn to leave, only to find that the gate is missing and the graveyard extends to infinity in all directions.

The stone thumps onto the thick, overgrown grass.

“You never visit me anymore,” the crone wines.

“Now you’ll stay with your grandmother FOREVER!”

I feel like the best ghost locations are the ones with the most emotional energy. In no particular order: The DMV, day care, and anywhere offering free samples at lunch time.

I do like a secluded village, where dark secrets are held and things aren’t as lovely as they seem. Then again, any location where a group find themselves isolated from the outside world appeals. Anything from a ship in the ocean to a labyrinth underground…

As much of a sucker as I am for a traditional house riddled with grizzly haunts, I've been veering towards more unusual locations lately.

Shopping malls, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores. "Normal" locations that SHOULDN'T be weighed down by phantasms.

It depends on the ghost.

Just a spooky thing that makes you nervous: house, preferably a spare room.

A lonely spirit with depression: abandoned places that should bring joy — theater, cinema, an empty town.

Scary ghosts: Marching down Main Street, big as a house and hungry.

#HorrorWritersChat is seriously underway now, eh?

Q2.
I mean, I don't want to see any ghosts, thank you. I'm allergic.
But when it comes to writing, it's always places I know intimately. You'll find ghosts in prisons, in theatres, asylums, abandoned buildings. Wherever the story echoes.

Knowing a few people that are not well at the moment, Hospitals can be weird places, especially at night when you hear nurses walking up and down the corridors creating shadows under the door, stopping outside your room to read your chart, (At least I hope that's who it is).
