Amidst everything, I still can't believe they didn't exempt Canadian oil. They literally built a "higher gas prices" button and pushed it. They acknowledged it was a bad idea to put tariffs on it but decided to do 10% instead of 0. They literally built a "higher gas prices" button and pushed it!

This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.

It's striking the extent to which there's never any justification given for any of this beyond "it's too many people" or "it's actually fake" and no apparent planning behind any of it. It's the aesthetics of "move fast and break things" without any discernible direction or purpose. It's cosplay.
