Will no one think of the poor Nazis?
Just thinking... we give so much attention (as we should!) to the victims of state violence, ie, people sent to CECOT.

But, we give little consideration to the psychic violence suffered by those tasked with carrying out the physical violence.

Yes, they "chose" those jobs. But...

I've never thought of astronomy as astrological heresy before, but that's not a bad framing. I also hear believers in astrology defending it, saying that it's the basis of astronomy, and I think, ok, and? That doesn't mean its not utterly wrong.
So,huh…in a sense, astronomy is an astrological heresy? Which actually tracks within the larger vertical ascent mystical structure of the West. Like the orthodoxy got hung up in the charts/2nd hand experience & the radical mystics were all “you have to experience the observations firsthand, broheim”

now reading : the history of a tenth of a second by Jimena Canales

“it wasn’t until the 1850s that instruments could recognize a tenth of a second, and, once they did, the impact on modern science and society was profound.”

It's weird to me when Trumpists think they've won something when they say "He's still your President."
That's why I'm pissed off. Be much happier if he weren't.
And while I'm aware Trump is my President, it'd be nice if he knew it.

The GOP enacted civil service reform.

The GOP will destroy civil service reform.

The GOP is NOT the same party that it was. Keep this in mind when they claim Lincoln as their own

In Catch-22, Milo Minderbinder is a war profiteer, working every angle he can to make a buck.
He makes one stupid decision, buying up the world's supply of Egyptian cotton.
In his desperation to sell it, he even tries to sell chocolate covered cotton balls.
This is a post about generative ai.

A cyclist on a sidewalk is usually a symptom of bad infrastructure.

As I often say, cyclist vs. pedestrian conflicts arise because both are fighting over the scraps of space not occupied by cars. But what if we took that space from cars to make biking, walking, and rolling safer?
my hot take as a full-time pedestrian and transit rider is that i want cities to do the absolute maximum amount to provide cyclists with safe and protected bike lanes everywhere so that i don't have to feel the least bit bad for kicking one off the sidewalk into the street
And before you say anything about Just Do More Public Transit, make your neighbors less fucking neurotic about funding and designing roads for public transit

Replace bike lane flex posts with bollards!
