I mentioned a few days ago that our contractor and friend was picked up by ICE just after leaving our house, following a stop at Lowes. He says that 95% of the folks in detention are other construction workers who were detained at either Home Depot, Lowes, or a job site.

This is realy true, for me. When you cant trust animal videos anymore, it really takes away the joy. AI is damaging our world so much.
Of all the sins of AI, this is an unexpected and deeply annoying one
Funny animal videos no longer being trustworthy just fucking sucks all around. I love the wonder of animal behavior and what it says about the experience of being alive. It's because it happened in reality that it's so fun. It's not fun if it was just made up. There's no wonder there.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Republicans say ACA premiums will rise for ‘only’ 20-25 million people. Venezuelan boats are being bombed for allegedly carrying cocaine for 1.5 million regular users.
If 20-25 million is such a small number, isn’t 1.5 million a much smaller number to bomb boats for?

This summer, Oregon became one of just a few states to pass a law requiring data centers to foot the costs of growing energy and transmission infrastructure that’s needed to power them. But months later, PGE developed a plan that shows it could be trying to find a work-around.
Utility watchdogs accuse PGE of skirting new law meant to make data centers pay for rising demand
The company doesn’t plan to simply assign the costs of energy investments needed to support data centers, to data centers, but to focus on all drivers of “peak demand.”
