Most US kids hospitalized for #COVID had chronic illnesses; less than 4% were vaccinated

Over one-quarter of participants were admitted to an ICU, and nearly one-third needed mechanical ventilation or high-flow oxygen.

Apparently all the PhD researchers holding prestigious NSF-funded research fellowships are having their salaries withheld until some unspecified time when the leadership figures out how to eliminate any grant funding that doesn’t align with the president’s political ideology.
It’s official: all funding requests made on Tuesday by postdocs for their salaries have been unilaterally rejected by NSF.

The CDC’s MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) did not come out last week.

The first time in generations.

Hasn’t come out today and I can almost assure you it will not.

Why? Trump wants it reviewed *by a political appointee*

Regardless of your view of that journal, that is censorship.

Trump administration is the perfect example why diversity and equality legislation was introduced. It hasn't meant incapable people are hired/promoted over the capable, it's actually meant insecure and incompetent white fellas aren't just recruiting other insecure and incompetent white fellas.

Just to be clear - he's not blaming "DEI" for the crash. He's saying that minorities are stupid. Just flat out racism. If WH reporters can't say that, then should step aside and let someone else with eyes and ears do the job.

Republicans absolutely love their new pet phrase DEI because it encapsulates every racial/ethnic/sexist/homophobic/ableist transphobic slur (virtually anyone OTHER than a straight, white male) they could ever want to use into one tidy little acronym of hate: DEI.

The freezing of federal grants, the firing of all inspector generals, the immunization of political violence - does everybody not see what’s happening?

In a blitzkrieg, Trump is trying to collapse our democracy - and probably our economy - and seize control.

Call it what it is.

Pulled up Classic Charmed to reset my brain so I might have a chance of sleeping tonight.

Started marveling at the guest stars, and remembering how X-Files and Star Treks of the 90's had impressive lists, too.

This is what longer, consecutive seasons gave us—some amazing performances / performers!

I spoke to my dad a lot today about how disappointed and hopeless I’ve been feeling all week. He told me this: “You have to fight on the battlefield you’re on, not the one you wish you were on.” It wasn’t what I wanted to hear, but definitely what I needed to hear.

How long are you contagious with COVID-19?

Here's what the science says:
➡️ Most people are infectious for ~10 days
➡️ ~80% of people test positive for 5 days after symptom onset
➡️ Only ~30% of people who test positive have a fever
➡️ Presence of symptoms is an unreliable indicator of infectiousness
