During Superman there was a scene where Lois and Superman started kissing and a six year old shouted "WHAT THE FUCK" and everyone laughed.

Few people even know about this; when people are asked in surveys how child mortality has changed the majority says it has stagnated or increased.

If you consider that many don't know about humanity's biggest achievement, then it's not surprising that many are so pessimistic about our future.

I’m sure others have already observed this but it’s hilarious that an efficiency commission requires two co-chairs

After read many takes on the election loss, in my mind I’ve boiled it down to ignorance of the voting pop on who Trump really is. Many people are over entertained and don’t read serious news.

But that’s only because I can’t conceive of the alternative. It is quite possible I’m the ignorant one.

this happens because low information voters aren't quite clocking that the Republican Party has lost its mind. they just have a general sense that tension between the parties is high, and they want someone to ratchet it down.
It is fucking insane but every ordinary, not-online Democrat I've ever spoken to has said they want a candidate who "reaches across the aisle." Absolute brainrot but so pervasive among voters, media and elite institutions that you have to cater to it if you want to win.

Bipartisanship polls very highly, and many people only hear about the government when it shuts down and the national park is closed.

I just tell myself this shit isn't for me (also no republican will set their career on fire by working with Kamala so it's moot anyway)

In @radiofreetom.bsky.social 's @theatlantic.bsky.social cover story, he quotes Washington's worry that some citizens would come to “seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual." #Trilemma concerns could be one such trigger. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

This is not how democracy works.

This is exactly why left-leaning folks like myself want stronger gun control laws.
