US politicians wonder why Canadians aren't visiting as much, given how welcoming they are! "Grand Canyon Nat'l Park the cost of driving in a private vehicle is $35. Non-U. S. visitors now would have to pay an extra $100 per person on top of that, making admission for a family of four $435”

We're learning that $129 million in $ for #yyc has been paused due to #yyccc's intention to repeal blanket rezoning. Cllr Dan McLean says he was misled, but requirements are pretty clear. Some form of rezoning is needed. Mayor Farkas should try to replace, not repeal.

An entire story from a major paper that fails to explain and provide the context around UL safety certification and that these batteries don’t have it. Sigh.
A federal watchdog urged consumers on Monday to immediately stop using and safely dispose of two models of lithium-ion batteries made for a popular e-bike brand, warning of serious fire risks.
Batteries for Rad Power Bikes Get Federal Fire Risk Warning
A federal watchdog said two models of batteries found in Rad Power Bikes should be immediately, and safely, disposed of. The bike company disputes the safety agency’s findings.

Hey @jeromyyyc.bsky.social @natefor8.bsky.social @mykeatkinson.bsky.social Can we get a sane bylaw for this so property managers don’t have to make uninformed decision? UL-certified eBike batteries are safe and shouldn’t be banned from parkades. #yyccc #yycbike
What worries me is the cascade of hyper paranoid building managers who take this as a cue to ban e-bikes in their parking garages. Happy I kept my acoustic cargo, but yeah. @whoalansi.bsky.social mentioned the axe has already fallen in her building parkade

Today, November 24, 2025 it snowed in Calgary. That's not unusual, Environment Canada says we had 20.8 cm of snow on November 23, 2024. Last year! Buses in Calgary went on snow routes, because we don't fund Calgary Transit for weather conditions (no snow tires so a bus can get up a hill, etc.) 1/

Has Cornelis Piet Hoekstra ever been grateful, ever said “thank you” or offered any words of appreciation for Canada whose troops saved his country and his hometown of Groningen in the decade of his birth? (Applying Vance/Trump standards / words they applied to Zelensky) Sigh.

This is likely to happen unless there’s an electoral consequence for a party that is abusing its Constitutional power (NWC, control of municipalities) in more ways every week - the school boarding of councils who will in effect have to have their budget approved to get funding each year.
At the recent Alberta Municipalities conference in Calgary, Premier Danielle Smith floated the idea of taking tax powers from municipalities. They aren't into it but do want the province to start collecting its own portion of property taxes. #yyccc #ableg

The CIA concluded, 7 years ago, that MBS ordered Khashoggi’s killing. The head of the US government’s executive branch, which includes the CIA, at that time was… Trump.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."
