Watching La Revolution: sort of The Strain meets the French revolution. Set in the 1700's there's lots of candles and torches. So many torches with massive flames. Big flames. How do they avoid setting the sets with low ceilings aflame?

I don't know if this is real but it reminded me of dog chew toys I saw at Macy's years ago. They were life sized replicas of women's shoes and men's loafers, rubber, for dogs to chew on.

It's 7 degrees F outside right now. In the St Louis area we fluctuate between sub-zero freezing in the winter to weeks over 100 degrees F in the summer.
My theory of Midwestern bad drivers is summer bakes memory of driving in snow out of our heads, winter freezes any memory of driving in rain.
