Per NY Times’s Michael Grynbaum on X, this is Sharyn Alfonsi’s email to her “60 Minutes” colleagues in full:

Aurora over central Long Island was overhead to west-southwest(!) and bright enough to compete with the NYC lights on the horizon.

This image is fairly long exposure but otherwise taken in normal photo mode (AFAIK).

dissatisfied by the New York Times coverage of Zohran Mamdani?

great news! I talked to the guy Thursday about his campaign’s success at bringing community together beyond this election, and contextualized how it’s potentially shifted youth engagement with politics by simply listening @teenvogue.com
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

This is totally insane - like invading Iraq in response to 9/11. What evidence is there that any of these horrible events are related to universities?

It angers me beyond description that this is where we are. I fought conspiracy theorists for *decades*, and now here I am honestly wondering if anything the government says is a false flag because we *know* they lie all the time about everything. Of course, that's their goal: Doubting facts.
The trouble with this administration is, they lie about everything. They lie about vaccines. They lie about climate. They lie about the economy. They lie about immigration. They lie about trade. They lie about the president.

Maybe this is true. Maybe it isn't. Who even knows any more.
Ammunition engraved with transgender and antifascist ideology was found inside the rifle authorities believe was used in Kirk’s shooting, sources say.

⚠️ For anyone who enjoys furry porn in any shape or form:

Bluesky rule 5. A. ii. b. is incredibly vague and risks categorizing 18+ furry art as rule breaking.

Can confirm this email is authentic — and about nothing in it is true.

Social Security income is still taxed. This bill does nothing to change that.

It’s willful disinformation on the part of SSA. It’s a lie.
Hi, I think a lot of us received e-mails from SSA saying that social security will no longer be taxed - and that somehow there is "enhanced deductions" (how much enhancement can you make to 0?) for those over 65. What part, if any, of this is true? Thank you!

First, SCOTUS issued a sweeping grant of immunity to a president who committed unprecedented crimes in office

Now they have prevented courts from stopping this administration's open and routine violations of the law

Democracy and the rule of law are on the line

if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief, you don't actually have constitutional _rights_, you have _privileges_ that can sometimes (but not always) be secured for you by your lawyer
The upshot of this decision, for now, seems to be exactly the crazy patchwork scenario we were warned about:

- the lower-court injunctions continue to protect the parties (immigrant orgs, individuals and 22 states) from Trump's EO
- the EO can (and will) be enforced in the other 28 states

Correct. More accounts with news, more accounts with real domain expertise, more accounts offering something *other* than commentary.
I've made this point multiple times before but if Bluesky wants to grow, the things they need aren't opinion pundits but accounts that publish new information. That's breaking news reporters, politicians and stuff like official organization accounts that publish official statements.

In a really important passage, the judge rejects the relevance of the Second Red Scare precedents that the govt is relying upon, and affirms the significance of the 1A interests at stake here. The opinion makes clear how egregious the govt's actions have been.

This is just a fundamentally wrong argument. The individuals on question had very obviously not been “removed” from the United States to another country. They were in the air, and he explicitly ordered them to turn around the planes.

Contempt is designed exactly for this kind of scenario.

Unbelievable news.

Pancreatic is one of the deadliest cancers.

New paper shows personalized mRNA vaccines can induce durable T cells that attack pancreatic cancer, with 75% of patients cancer free at three years—far, far better than standard of care.
