Remember that you do not have to SHARE what you are doing in public. Some of these things should be done quietly.

Because the right-wing owners are too cheap to provide health insurance and failed to get the requirement scrapped in court.

A few months after the City Paper shut down as well. The city is becoming a news desert.
NEW: Publishers of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announce they are shutting down the newspaper on May 3, 2026.

Hours ago, the Supreme Court of the US declined to extend a stay on a court order for the paper to pay its journalists following the end of a 3-year strike.

This has been historically true, but I don't think it's true anymore... I almost wish the cruelty was still being masked by people who were fluent in the good grammar of civility, or good grammar period, or were fluent in anything
Mamdani: For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty

NYE going into 2024 was one of the worst days of my life, struggling to come to terms with the death of a friend as the fireworks boomed.

When they sounded for 2025, I breathed a sigh of relief that the holiday had passed uneventfully, only finding out the truth hours later.

I can't exhale yet.

Husband came home from working his first X-Mas in years (they're normally closed) and I had forgotten how horrible people act on today. Screaming at staff for not staying open past the posted hours, not tipping, and treating people like garbage.

Is this how Jesus wanted you to act on his birthday?

As someone who worked retail at the time, it was ominous then, too. I will never forget the nice, suburban mom who went feral on me cuz we were out of Christmas Blend and only had Holiday Blend coffee. I really thought she was going to hit me during her "Americans celebrate Christmas" rant.
In retrospect the Bush-era War On Christmas stuff seems more ominous than it did at the time. It was just cable news guys crying about dumb/fake shit, then and now; I mean the campaign to turn Christmas, which most everyone likes and feels warmly about, into just another thing to get mad about.

I have completed all the panels of my afghan. The problem now is that I have to actually assemble them into an afghan and there is no part of me that wants to do that.

The people deciding to start projects that need to be implemented ASAP in the last couple weeks of the year are all monsters. I don't even celebrate Christmas, I'm just fucking tired.

I had a realisation just now:

So many people probably got cheap Temu or Ali Express 'AI' toys for their kids and then will happily connect these to their home WiFi Christmas morning.

Dec 26 is about to be come International Identity Theft Day.

The Hanukkah car parade is so cute. Someone asked me if I was Jewish and when I said yes, what can only be described as a gaggle of little boys jumped out of a minivan to give me a menorah.

Runner up for best kid goes to the one yelling "I'm eating chocolate!" to the crowd. We can tell, honey.

This is such a shame for a game so beautiful and creative to think that its artists weren't enough. I'd much rather a product that's authentically human than something perfect.
