"I made a list of all the prompts in Microsoft’s ad and I’m checking them twice. Or as many times as I can stomach before hitting the nog."
Microsoft keeps airing big flashy commercials showing people using Copilot on Windows to do all kinds of things... and we keep making @superantonio64.bsky.social test those exact prompts and discovering nothing actually works www.theverge.com/report/84705...
Microsoft’s holiday Copilot ad is wrapped in empty promises
I don’t want Copilot for Christmas.

I'll say here what I left unstated in my @monktoberfest.com talk: AWS in particular is in a state of cultural collapse because they have done exactly this -- and their RTO mandate has served to decimate organizational trust.
Another awesome @monktoberfest.com talk by @bcantrill.bsky.social ! It's absolutely worth watching the whole talk, but I think the last bit is great way to wrap up, where Bryan talks about broken institutional and organisational trust using RTO example:

"You may [express your misgivings about agentic PRs], but nobody should accept your opinion as fact."

I was told this by a human, but it’s possible an LLM had taken possession of their body.

An alternate reality.

"When users confronted Clinton with their concerns, he brushed them off [and] explained that AIs have emotions and that tech firms were working to create a new form of sentience..."
This is wild: Jason Clinton is the deputy CISO of Anthropic. Also a mod of a queer gamers Discord. Clinton forced a version of Anthropic's AI on the server, despite the community's wishes, and it's killed the server. AI was reading messages it shouldn't be too

The best thing about AI is everyone maintaining CLAUDE.md. New codebase and want to know how things work? Skip the outdated README.md, open up CLAUDE.md. Don't even need to launch claude. #lifehacks 😁

AI did what decades of nagging could never - motivate devs to keep their docs up to date.

I'm looking forward to when the AI Bros start sharing their CLAUDE dot mds in artifact repositories - maven and npm and lock files for your prompt dependency hell? 😈

Thoughtful and balanced guidance on #LLM usage, and a delightful human-generated quote:

At least they didn't get an actually good actor to narrate.
SCOOP: Academy Award-nominee Liam Neeson narrated a recent anti-vaccine documentary that glorifies RFK Jr.’s rise to power.

In the film, Neeson—a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador—calls the COVID-19 vaccines “dangerous experiments.”

Everything about this story is deeply funny. Do they think this is going to win points with morons or are they actually this self-serious about serifs?

These are the iconic photos of 2025 with rot and corruption at the heart of the US tech industry on full display. DOGE, the failure to curb Meta and Google monopolies, and FCC bullying that followed were all premised by tech titans kissing the ring.
