How sad that there are parents that love the fantasy of their child more than their child. What pleasure and joy you will never fucking know.

I wish parents who have transphobic kneejerk responses would at least pause and approach the topic with curiosity and a willingness to learn. It seems like they only do "research" that seeks to confirm their priors. This is true of many topics of course, but this is your child's well being!

Hey, y'all. If someone has created something that you enjoy, please don't be afraid to tell them. So many of us are in solitude when we create and do it from our hearts, so hearing that it matters to someone else can make a huge difference in how we view our efforts.

Rachel Gilmore on the anti-DEI movement: "I think that to attack these notions is a dog whistle to the worst elements of society that are seeing a slide towards a more fascistic world. And every politician who engages in that should be ashamed of themselves."

My 83 yo dad was all prepped for a rare liver cancer procedure today, but he fell yesterday, has a fractured hip, & is now waiting for orthopedic surgery.
I’m very grateful to everyone at Foothills Hospital for how supportive they are in incredibly under resourced circumstances.

public libraries can play a role in popular resistance to the reduction of culture to bitstreams, but it’s important to remember that public libraries have a mandate to develop their collections, and that means regular weeding. this is why resource sharing (i.e. ILL) is essential. 📚
Most public libraries are culling their physical media because it doesn’t circulate. If you want libraries to hold something, you need to check it out. Public libraries can’t just be warehouses for physical media you might want someday. Use it or lose it.
When we talk about physical media, we are often only taking about personal collections but a big part of shunning the current digital ecosystem is supporting your local library. Not just for print books and periodicals but for movies, games and other medias too. Get. A. Library. Card.

@handsoffnyc.bsky.social is training thousands of New Yorkers on how to protect their neighbors from ICE. Today, they are currently running two trainings in Brooklyn and the Bronx, both of which hit capacity because interest was so high.

This is the way, y’all—we protect each other, and we know it.

One of them is Philosophy.

Philosophy.

Can we be a university without offering a Philosophy major?

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Is their solution just firing people when their agenda fails the system while people suffer as a result of their decisions?!
Former senior AHS execs told me they fear the healthcare system is like Humpty Dumpty: so broke it can't be put back together again. Sources say UCP spending a fortune on consultants for rushed fixes to serious organizational problems LaGrange et al were warned would happen, but ignored the advice.

This government does not care about the priorities that matter most to you.

We must abolish ICE, abolish the police, and abolish prisons. This is true no matter who is in office, and no matter how much better it makes you feel to believe Trump is the source of America’s inhumane treatment of migrants.
