Absolutely. And if your answer is some version of "it's a bad process if there is a group of NIMBYs who don't like the outcome" then you're saying you will give entitled NIMBY assholes a veto on any progress the City might try to make.

Bingo. When I ride Summit back and forth to downtown, it’s not lost on me that most of the yards with Kaohly Her signs also sport the Save Old Sewers signs. I hear the word equity being used, but it’s clear who is being served here.
bcmfietser.bsky.social
It’s a tactic, when one doesn’t wish to state their true opposition to a project, to criticize the « process ».

A Palace Coup seems to be well underway at this point.

I will not be ranking Kaohly Her for mayor of Saint Paul.

Asked about the Summit Ave regional trail, she said a bunch of critical nonsense capped by “I will look at the project and reevaluate it.”

I agree with Adam Dullinger: that was such a bullshit answer.

St. Paul’s mayoral candidates diverge on Summit Ave. bike trail
Asked about a long-proposed protected bike trail along Summit Avenue, state Rep. Kaohly Her told a wall-to-wall audience that she was not ready to call for its cancellation, but she was skeptical of t...

Bondi claiming they arrested [checks notes] "the girlfriend of one of the founders of antifa" has me in stitches

Bondi: "Bondi: "Just like we did with cartels, we are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with antifa -- destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We are going to take them apart."

If you are a federal worker, there are several credit unions and other financial institutions that are offering zero interest loans during the government shutdown.

In May I quit my job with a 30+ minute drive.

I took a pay cut to bike 5 minutes to and from work daily.

Since May I've lost nearly 20lbs, I never WFH, I work longer hours and I am getting at least an hour back for my life every day.

I've also probably saved $1000 on gas by now.

Occasionally I get asked to be on some sort of work-life balance panel which I hate but will reluctantly drag myself to just so I can say my one and only tip: Live somewhere where you have a short, non-car commute to work. You’re welcome.

My best tip in life is if you can, move as close as possible to a grocery store you like that you can then walk to. Makes so many other aspects better too!

Walkable cities are perfect for busy people/families.

I had a 45 min break between work calls & wanted to fit in a quick walk.

My wife pointed out we still needed a grocery item for dinner.

I walked 10 mins to the co op and took the long way home.

And I got to pet a cute dog on the walk home!

if you're willing to sacrifice some groups for your personal safety, i'm going to assume you'll sacrifice anyone. Either we all get humanity and rights or none of us will. Because nobody is voting for another centrist Dem trying to move the party right. that shit is over.

I will 100% support any politician who takes transit, bikes, or walks regularly to get around. Be out in community! Don’t just drive through it.

I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.

I really picked the right time in history to get out of the study of research integrity. Uff da.

For behavioral scientists struggling to recruit enough subjects for their studies, #AI offers a tantalizing solution: artificial “participants” that can stand in for real people.

But a new preprint calls for caution before researchers make the leap. https://scim.ag/42myIdg
AI-generated ‘participants’ can lead social science experiments astray, study finds
Data produced by “silicon samples” depends on researchers’ exact choice of models, prompts, and settings

The 2023-24 regional sales-tax and concomitant reductions in county responsibilities for funding regional transit put *lots* of new transportation funding in county coffers specified for transit and « active Transportation » projects. Expect more such skirmishes over the next decade.
bcmfietser.bsky.social
There’s plenty of city/county conflict in the core. In Hennepin consider battles about Hennepin Ave bus lanes; in Ramsey consider One Battle After Another about transit on W 7th.
