In May I quit my job with a 30+ minute drive.

I took a pay cut to bike 5 minutes to and from work daily.

Since May I've lost nearly 20lbs, I never WFH, I work longer hours and I am getting at least an hour back for my life every day.

I've also probably saved $1000 on gas by now.

Occasionally I get asked to be on some sort of work-life balance panel which I hate but will reluctantly drag myself to just so I can say my one and only tip: Live somewhere where you have a short, non-car commute to work. You’re welcome.

My best tip in life is if you can, move as close as possible to a grocery store you like that you can then walk to. Makes so many other aspects better too!

I stopped taking the Green Line in favor of the bus (67 or A to B line) to downtown St Paul. Still would use it to get to Minneapolis.

I ride light rail a lot and talk to transit riders a lot.

Conditions over the last several years have caused some riders to change how, when, if they ride.

As Metro Transit works to bring riders back, esp to light-rail, that perception remains an issue.

What a week’s worth of rider text messages reveals about Metro Transit’s problems
Serious crime is down on Metro Transit, but riders continue to report “quality of life” crime that makes some feel unsafe on light rail.

We don't need electric cars. That doesn't fix the car problem.

We need better pedestrian & Cycling infrastructure.

We need smaller, efficient engines.

We need smaller useful vehicles.

We need legal Kei Cars.

Vote for me for Mayor in 2034 I promise not to turn Minnesota into a socialist utopia.

For the first time ever, London has met legal limits for nitrogen dioxide.

When I became Mayor, we were told it would take 193 years. We did it 184 years earlier than expected.

Cleaner air means a healthier city and big savings for the NHS.

Wow, look at all these avid motorists. It’s amazing they use their cars for everything. "You really take that just to go to the grocery store? What do you do when the weather is nice?" Such a cool hobby!

This is why I want to carry magnetic bumper stickers with anti car propaganda

Lake Harriet is swarming with high schoolers in formal wear (homecoming?) & parents who seem to have decided they get to park wherever they want (in bikelanes, across crosswalks, too close to stop signs) bc close access to photo opps is more important then the safety of peds & bicyclists.

Osaka is one of the most accessible cities I have been to.

Comibine the train system with walkable and bikeable streets it was fantastic.
modacitylife.com
With 29% of all trips made by bike and 64% of bike trips made by women, Osaka is a cycling city beyond compare. What makes it even more remarkable is these gains were made in spite of very little dedicated infrastructure. So what can we learn from a place that didn't build it, and they came anyway?🧵

- Midway Menards is still great to bike to

It's important to understand that MNUFC should have easily won this game and blaming refs cannot be an excuse.

But the refereeing all season has been horrific and to see a thread like this showing evidence and explaining the failures of a refereeing performance affecting a soccer game is beautiful.

So our remaining strikers are an MLS untested Dieng and a developing 17 year old prospect? 😭

News: #MNUFC players Kelvin Yeboah (hamstring) and Carlos Harvey (knee) have regular-season ending injuries, head coach Eric Ramsay said Friday.

Context: #Loons have four matches left over the next month before beginning MLS Cup Playoffs. A big blow coming off US Open Cup exit.

10000000000% correct. Could they have held off till winter window? Could they have negotiated a loan back deal? I don't know, but the decision to sell directly contributed to that loss against Austin.

How about an endlessly burning tyre pit instead of a parking ramp, the tyre pit would be more useful and probably pollute less.

Days since nearly dying on my bike: 0

Hamline Ave riding towards Minnehaha Ave southbound. A car without looking turns left, I stop about 2 inches from being sideswiped.

Based on their speed and state of car, I kind of knew this was going to happen so was ready on my brakes...

A lot of bad things in the world but have you considered staying up super late watching a soccer game where the team you’re rooting for gives up a goal in the 120th minute to lose a shot at their first ever top tier trophy?

Bike-lanes don’t cause traffic congestion.

Car dependency, foolish land-use sprawl, too many (& bigger) cars driving too much taking up too much space, highly subsidized driving costs, and not enough choices in how to get around, ALL cause traffic congestion.

Think about it. THAT’S common sense.
