Looks like most of the vote is in for the Iowa #SD16 (Harris+17) special election:

Renee Hardman (D)- 73.3%
Lucas Loftin (R)- 26.7%

Nearly a 30 point overperformance to cap off an amazing 2025 for the Iowa Democrats

This. 1000x, this.
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

The media trots out the "deplorable" comment from a decade ago to castigate the left. Once a week now Trump implies that the military should destroy democrats, and it is just how things are.

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

Shylock is among the most quintessential antisemitic stereotypes. This is not an accident. It follows years in which Trump has normalized antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories — and it’s deeply dangerous.

It seems to me that Dems need to amass as much knowledge they can about how the government is being corrupted and vandalized, and then use that knowledge to rebuild as quickly as possible once in power. Should have nothing to do with the pissing match between the groups and the popularists.
Put another way: Project 2025 let right-wing legal groups sketch out the agenda for a new GOP DOJ.

Do you think "Project 2029" will hand the DOJ section to the ACLU? No. The opposite. It's about getting a Dem message disconnected from left-wing groups.
The use of "Project 2029" here is ironic, on purpose. Project 2025 was politically damaging bc it spelled out how a president could use executive orders/hirings/firings to achieve unpopular* goals. Neera et al want a compilation of popular ideas. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/30/u...

Congratulations to Mike Zimmer for Iowa on winning the special election for Iowa Senate District 35.

He flipped a district that Trump won by 21 points.

I commend him on running an excellent campaign that focused on the issues and serving the people of Iowa.
