That is what the molecular aging clocks are doing: they measure the accummulation of stochastic molecular damage. Since those clocks are in use for many years already, the ansewer is: yes, we are doing this.

I'll be presenting our latest work, that explores proteo-transcriptomic changes that occur with brain aging and their impact on protein synthesis at the #EMBLProtein conference.

If you want to know more about it, come and spin my poster #129.

Altered translation elongation contributes to key hallmarks of aging in the killifish brain
Aging is a major risk factor for neurodegeneration and is characterized by diverse cellular and molecular hallmarks. To understand the origin of these hallmarks, we studied the effects of aging on the...

🧪Move over CUT&Tag, there’s a new #TranscriptionFactor mapping method in town.
Our newly developed DynaTag is faster, cleaner, more sensitive than #ChIPseq, #CUT&RUN and #CUT&Tag.

🚨 Happy to share our first pre-print 🎉 on the causes of ribosome-associated degradation of CFTR and other transmembrane proteins.
We explore how protein folding, ER insertion, and elongation dynamics influence translation arrests in this new class of RQC targets.👇

Principles of ribosome-associated protein quality control during the synthesis of CFTR
Prolonged translational arrests caused by defective mRNAs activate the ribosome-associated protein quality control (RQC) pathway, which marks harmful incomplete proteins for degradation. Multipass tra...
