We need BETTER leadership

#IMHO the current crop (can only speak to #TOpoli) won't even mouth the words #ClimateCrisis. Find leaders who will plot #TransformTO as a lynch pin to Housing/Affordability, Inequality, Public Health & Infrastructure investments. Waiting for the leaders to make some noise
We have no shortage of solutions when it comes to the #ClimateCrisis & better city-building. We know what works, & what doesn’t. We know the difference between action & excuse. We have smart cities that inspire us.

We need leadership.

Reminders Of What Our Losses From CDC And USAID Mean
With the loss of USAID and much of CDC, our ability to respond to pandemics is at risk. Global health issues are a growing threat.

It’s not easy for Canada to completely restructure its economic system away from a partnership with the United States, a partnership Canada knows… that EVERY nation now knows… can’t be trusted. But it’s the right thing to do. And we’ll be stronger for it.

Will the United States? I doubt it.
Prime Minister Mark Carney's government announces that Canada is realigning Canada's economy away from the United States.

This tracks. I worked retail and landscaping but not food service and I would say, without trying to brag, that I’m about 2/3 of a decent person.
Worker's rights, y'all. Dang. The mess here. Be nice to people who are working to help you.

(I've thought for 20 yrs that everyone ought to have to do 6 months in retail & 6 months in food service & 6 months in sanitation/landscaping, and we'd have an entirely better world.)

Fascists are waging a brutal campaign against universities and their employees—and rather than defend themselves and the people they depend on, universities are throwing them to the wolves. They’re risking liability and their own survival—and rewarding the wolves. Stupid. Short-sighted. Heartless.
The other thing is that this is an instructor in graduate school, so no protections and even more consequences potentially to a career. I’m betting she’s getting threatening emails now too. All incredibly scary to someone new without support.

Even with all the Epstein talk on the news, we really aren’t talking enough about the significance of the scandal.

It’s not just the Republicans. The major donors for both political parties and at least one president from each party are directly connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

Even if we were at war with Venezuela, and even if the boat folks were smuggling drugs, that DOES NOT MAKE THEM COMBATANTS. I am begging people to consult international law experts. They're out there! They want to talk!
We weren’t (and at this hour still aren’t) at war with Venezuela so both strikes are just murder
If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

”Moderates” have a really hard time accepting that the reason why Republicans unanimously voted for Trump in 2016 is because Trump promised the stuff Republicans had been wanting for years, if not decades. Constantly trying to “reach across the aisle” was inevitably gonna lead here

What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

And "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for secular.

The inverse of this is also true, because science fiction and fantasy are two genres where you can, and will, be exposed to the entire spectrum of what human beings (or at least SFF authors) will rub one out to
Romance covers waaaaaay more territory than people think. There are loads of really great fantasy and scifi stories 'hidden' in romance just because it has a romance and/or smut in it.
