The old political Machines did not run on mutual aid. They did not serve as a third place for likeminded people and idealogues. They primarily delivered forms of patronage and graft, and when we made that illegal they fell apart. I swear to god some of you people need to read a book or two

I know a couple people who made a minor fortune on dot coms, and who then just quit tech and started doing weird stuff that brought them joy. They just didn’t need any more money than they had.
If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.

Obviously they can’t get Trump to help, but I actually think it’s very clever politicking to lobby RFK and emphasize that these are traditional foods, because you know what he’s like about those. Dude went away gushing about removing dams and helping the salmon run.

Okay, this causes me physical pain to say, but RFK is (for once) not actually being a total weirdo here. He’s a guest of the Nez Perce at a fish hatchery. The Pacific lamprey and the salmon are culturally important to the Nez Perce people, and they are lobbying to remove dams from the Snake River.
The head of health services in the United States, letting parasitic lampreys bite his arms for some godforsaken reason.
