I started appreciating Thanksgiving after I learned the Pilgrims *weren’t* fleeing England because of religious persecution anymore.
They were fleeing Holland because they didn’t want their kids growing up to speak Dutch.

It’s actually one of my favorite holidays and think that it’s not all that problematic to celebrate. It’s just our national variation of the harvest festival/start of the Christmas season, the mythical connection to Plymouth is fabricated and not at the forefront of 99% of peoples’ minds today.
