I just saw someone post a selfie with a Starbucks cup, saying, "Don't yell at me for having Starbucks, I'm running errands."

1) Run errands without crossing a picket line.

2) If you're a scab, don't post scab selfies.

Instant block, but I'm also disappointed in the person who reposted it. 🧐

Some in the replies are close to the true answer, but just look at their technology. The Flintstones are obviously the result of a future agrarian back-to-nature cult that used genetic engineering to create living tools, allowed to cook for a century or two until the original cult practices faded.
how the fuck do the Flintstones know about Christmas

Good. The next thing I want to see is companies that obfuscate generative "AI" use being required to give refunds to anyone who wants one. They know they're in the wrong, or they wouldn't try to hide it.

Why do so many writers who claim to care about other people post text screenshots with no alt text taken from their Substack posts? How am I to believe in your empathy if you can't even clear the low bars of not funding Nazis and not telling disabled people to get bent? 🧐

Tonight in Old Guy Complains About Modern Usage: How the hell did we go from "say no more" to "say less"? 🧐

"Say no more" = I understand, you don't need to keep convincing me.

"Say less" = Invent a time machine and go back in time and never start this conversation?

Harrumph!

Racism, sexism, and a constant barrage of lies from the media, and how does a professional media watcher not understand this? 🧐
January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

Ugh, I just don't have the energy to deal with people who misuse alt text today. But I guess I'm down to zero comics now. Whatever, I don't really need an occasional chuckle, do I?

Maybe it's time for "Western Civilization" to end so we can just have civilization.
The richest man on the planet has a pinned tweet that's just straight up white nationalism. I can't say I miss Twitter!

Do I have to be Catholic to understand why Wake Up Dead Man is supposed to be good? Because so far it's... umm... Not? At least for me, it's a bit of a slog. Enough so that I wonder if I'm missing some essential detail that makes it make sense.

Billionaires must be abolished.

Also, I appreciate that there is at least one news outlet that did not call the people in that one photo "women," thus assuming adulthood.
December 12, 2025 at 7:50 PM
New idea: every article includes a TL;DR list of things I should know after reading it, because while I appreciate that you want to wax rhapsodic about life in the sagebrush and slowly transition to the important health or political information, I have a 24/7 migraine and can't read all that.

At some point the journalists getting angry at people who are upset about pay walls need to stop and think about the fact that their profession has spent several decades conditioning people to expect free news in return for annoying ads, and that expectation isn't going to disappear overnight.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I sent those deaths threats directly to him in a text message & informed him of what his name calling & words were doing - it was a direct assassination threat on my son. And he was extremely - I won't repeat what he said - but it was extremely unkind. No sympathy. No care"

If you're not using alt text, especially as a professional communicator or artist, it's a conscious choice to exclude disabled people. If I can do it, with dyslexia, ADHD, blurry vision, arthritis, chronic fatigue, and a 24/7 migraine, so can you. If you can post, you can post alt text.
Posting this again because a lot of people said they found it helpful! Guide to ALT text: www.perkins.org/resource/how...

I'm watching Glass Onion in preparation for the new movie, and seeing COVID precautions is actually painful. No one gives a shit any more. No one cares enough even to briefly wear an ineffective cloth mask.

Also autocorrect just tried to turn "ineffective" into ivermectin. 🧐

The last time I attempted a pull-up (in middle school, to shut up a gym coach who didn't believe what would happen) I dislocated both shoulders, and I'm still laughing at this pathetic sweaty worm-ridden putz.

Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard... pfft, easy mode: no Stars (Wars, nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

Some wisdom of the ancients: No matter where you go, there you are. You cannot escape the Self. Be an agreeable companion for yourself on your own journey.

Mom wants to see bad guys get what's coming to them, so we're watching John Wick again, and you know... I still don't understand why they call him Baba Yaga.

"This is the most fearsome hitman in the world, so we call him the old child-eating lady who lives in a hut that walks on chicken feet."

Really love it when I have something I'd like to contribute to a discussion but Mr. Migraine says, "Nope, no coherence for you." 🧐

Wait, does this mean that guy who drew Spider-Man's webbing with all the grunkly bits all over was right??

This is 98% correct, but he says something that troubles me: "This is not political, this is a human nature thing."

No, this is political. This is the definition of conservatism. No one who is not a conservative thinks that expanding options for other people is oppression.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

Good: Taking on the manufacturers of foods that aren't really food so much as addictive amalgams of carcinogens and wood pulp*.

Bad: Using nonsense language that includes the staples I rely on as a vegetarian with food allergies and severe chronic fatigue.

* Hyperbole, no need to correct.
San Francisco is suing ultraprocessed food companies.

The city attorney is filing the first government lawsuit in the US against manufacturers of ultraprocessed food.

He argues that cities are burdened with the cost of treating diseases that ultraprocessed food brings on.

If my life hadn't gone completely off the rails it would've been, "So... aliens *really* built the pyramids, right? Go on, you can tell me, I can keep a secret."
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

What people really don't want to understand is that RFKjr is not a singular evil, he is a culmination. The line runs straight and true from the Tuskegee experiments through the AIDS crisis through all the lies about COVID-19 to Kennedy. Someone like him was inevitable.

It's not charming, but when the sea shanty thing began, and everyone was joyfully singing "The Wellerman," a happy song about whalers massacring right whales and ripping off tongues of blubber to render into oil while praying their employers won't starve them to death, I thought, well, we're fucked.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?
