In Norse mythology, the woodpecker is primarily associated with the god Thor, god of thunder and lightning. The connection stems from the bird's characteristic hammering, which is thought to mimic the sound of thunder or the striking of Thor's magic hammer.

9. That time my nieces rescued a boxy stag beetle, & while it recovered they gave it a name.

Athena was a good beet. Technically, the species common name is lesser stag beetle. Rude. So we gave it another name.

(Yes. I know lesser meant smaller, don't @ me, cos IDC.)
