"Why can't you chickens just work with the foxes on security for the coop?"
There are actually a lot of voters like this in New Hampshire, tbf. Bipartisanship is a drug, and we're a drug-infested den:
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

Here is a Dem policy response: Tax crypto. There is no reason those fuckers should be able to get away with massive undertaxed capital gains.
$QQQ -40%
Crypto -70%
High-end consumption slump
Unemployment rising
And the Dem policy response will be...enhanced ACA subsidies and solar credits?

I’ll keep pushing this line of analysis because I’m increasingly convinced the clearest path out of this mess is for Dems to adopt a relentless anti-corruption, anti-inequality, anti-oligarchy, pro-democracy platform. The Dem leadership hasn’t realized it yet, but they’re now a reform party.

At the risk of sounding petty, calls for Democratic unity going forward are all well and good, but let’s not forget that the reason Cuomo ran against Mamdani in the first place was a last-ditch effort by the New York Democratic Party to ratfuck their duly elected nominee.

Honestly, I think Marjorie Taylor Greene is the smartest Republican. Batshit evil, sure. But she sees the writing on the wall and is getting ahead of it.
HOSTIN: You don't believe in QAnon anymore? You've changed?
MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: No, I haven't changed. I was a victim just like you were of media lies and stuff you read on social media

Dearest Martha,
The rebels now are pelting us with sandwiches.
This morning Sargent Jones took a pastrami sub to the face and lost hold of the immigrant he was abducting.
By God's grace, he had a ski mask on, or mustard would have touched skin.
I can still smell the onions.
With love,
Jebediah

Important when talking about these things to not say they are "caving" and the like to fascism. They are collaborating, and eagerly in many cases. Nobody threatened Condé Nast with anything. Their readership was up. There were no financial reasons to do this, only ideological.

As the climate gets hotter and hotter every year, and we are increasingly affected by droughts and strong hurricanes, remember that its because "moderates" like Matt Yglesias felt that trying to do anything to prevent it was a bridge too far.
Great example of how “moved too far left” has little value. It’s ambiguous, people project onto it.
Many who say it mean race and gender. Some mean immigration. Yglesias says he means climate.
And all of them discount the possibility that Trump voters voted Trump because they like what he offers.

I actually think the *core* of Democrats’ unwise leftward move was on climate because it creates direct tensions with a classic kitchen table pitch.
All the other stuff (crime, immigration, guns, gender) matters too but the post-2012 pivot off of “all of the above” energy is the most important.

Did the Republican party win by going "moderate"? Ask Mitt Romney in 2012. It turns out you actually need to motivate your base.

Daylight savings time is fine, really. People get mad about it, but the underlying problem is that the length of daylight hours changes during the year, and as a society we need to adapt to that.

When Republicans say they want "unity," what they mean is they want everyone to unite behind fascists. Thanks, I'd rather be divided.
I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."
Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.

Rookie mistake. Solid gold toilets are heavy AF. They make your bathroom floor sag and you can barely lift the toilet seat. A gold _plated_ toilet is the much better option here.

The reason I have always opposed forced regime change in Venezuela is that the intention has always been to replace a left-wing dictatorship with a right-wing dictatorship, and I don't see that as an improvement.
I wrote about how right-wing media outlets are telling their audience that regime change in Venezuela would be simple and straightforward. In their version, the US has a small footprint and the opposition takes power seamlessly. History would be to differ.
