Have a listen and then tell me Matt Vickers doesn't crank up the northern accent by degrees the more he gets into trouble.

By the end he sounds like an 80s RADA graduate from Hampstead Heath, doing a Yorkshire accent in a BBC costume drama.
Tory MP Matt Vickers' car crash encounter with @lewisgoodall.com on #Brexit.

LG: Do you accept you damaged the economy?
MV: No.
LG: Are you saying Brexit has been good for business?
MV: It's created opportunities.
LG: What about all the evidence?
MV: You need to come up north.

Huh? 😵‍💫 ~AA

I'd like to say I am surprised, but I am not in the least surprised.
As soon as the racist bunting went up and St George crosses were being daubed everywhere, we knew. This was a far-right funded migrant-intimidation campaign, pretending to be about national pride.
Never felt less proud. And many have never felt less safe. Disgusting of politicians to endorse it.
Nigel Farage said that the 'Raise the Colours' campaign was a "grassroots movement driven by ordinary people”.

Kemi Badenoch said they should be "welcomed" as a symbol of "unity"

Now the campaign has pivoted to racially abusing migrants and intimidating charity workers on the beaches of France

Grid bottlenecks aren’t a failure of the energy transition — they’re proof it’s working.

Renewables got cheap fast, and now the grid has to catch up. Time to build the wires for the clean energy system we already have.

73% of ICE detainees have no criminal convictions, according to govt data.

Don’t fall for Trump’s lies about targeting the “worst of the worst.”

As ICE terrorizes cities to fill up detention centers, remember that some of Trump's major donors are private prison corporations.

🚀 Just launched: The EU’s new Heat Auction is a big step for industrial decarbonisation.

It backs clean process heat — heat pumps, electric boilers, geothermal, solar thermal — with competitive, outcome-based support.

Just a vicious, lawless regime.

The spectacle of masked gangs of state vigilantes, ripping people out of cars in full view of the street, is a terrible reminder of how quickly the unthinkable can become normal in a democratic society.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Big oil won't give up without a fight. They have too much invested in potentially stranded assets and too much corporate greed
Only in Canada. A deal that will increase oil production and weaken climate policy is good for climate because:
- oil producers didn't like those pesky climate policies, and
- the economic benefits of "any" incremental emissions from 1.4 Mb/d is worth it.

Opinion: Alberta-Ottawa MOU is a climate breakthrough, despite Steven Guilbeault’s misplaced outrage
Federal climate policies weren’t working, but Ottawa and Alberta’s ‘grand bargain’ puts Canada’s progress back on the road

This is very funny.

Only yesterday Starmer was swatting away hacks at a press conference who believed they had questions to answer over it.

The mainstream media, the Tories, and Farage accused Reeves of doing something wrong, again, and were proved wrong, again.

It’s marvellous.

Well said (by a highly intelligent and respected scientist).
Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.
