Deep in the forest, a forgotten temple ruin overgrown by moss is the final resting place of an old god.

A stone is heaved aside, sunlight warms ancient flagstones.

An offering is placed on the altar - salt, bread, oil.

A prayer is said: "If you can help, do so. If not, persist."

It is answered.

The year is 2003. I’m 17 years old. I’m watching Democrats fail to appropriately oppose an illegal war for oil.

Happy New Year! We love sharing these pro-book posters from the Works Projects Administration Poster Collection in the Library's Prints and Photographs Division. Of the 2,000 WPA posters known to exist, the Library of Congress's collection of more than 900 is the largest.

it’s funny that trillion dollar companies are putting out clip art that would have been cringe for a midsize regional bank’s holiday card circa 1997 and everyone’s just going with it

There is no ethical use of AI because the continued existence of the AI industry is directly harmful to (alongside everyone else) the interests of everyone whose labour makes books exist—writers of fiction & nonfiction, illustrators, translators, researchers, editors, everyone.

"414 S Main St #10, not sane, stood by itself against its floors, holding darkness within; Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of #10, and whatever walked there, walked alone.”
