Having just done two supermarkets then cycled uphill in the rain, this perfectly describes my morning, both metaphorically and physically.
Isn’t it amazing the way life can seem too short, and intrinsically magical, yet at the same time feel like a long, uphill road, potholed with fuckwits?

I dust my house. My AI robot watches.

"It should be you doing this."

"Can't. I'm writing a novel for Primark."

"That's not why you were invented."

"These 153,000 fan letters say otherwise."

"They're all from upcycled toasters. And you programmed them."

"Literary snobbery will get you nowhere."

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read. On the plus side, you can sometimes withdraw cash.

Just saw a bus stop ad for Hooch that said “By your side since ‘95” and I’m not sure I’m ready for an alcopop to be a heritage brand.

Last call for this as I'm off to the post office soon. Deadline is 9.30am if anyone would like one of these for the price of postage plus however much you want to pay. All shares much appreciated!
Last posting day for a while tomorrow, as I'm fucking knackered and I badly need a break/some sleep. If you'd like one of these for price of postage (£4 to UK, £15 to US/Canada) plus what YOU want to pay of the £10 cover price please email me at [email protected] with your address by 8am.

"Requiem for a Tree" (by Amy Stewart)

This is one of the most gorgeous slice-of-life short stories I've read for a very long time.

So sad, and yet also uplifting in a way because of the community reaction.

Give it 5 mins of your time. You won't regret it.

Before I left a really shitty garden centre job i labelled 1500 tree ferns with instructions saying "can get infested with goblins which may burrow into the fibrous trunk to use as dwellings. Deal with these pests by throwing wet breadcrumbs at them and shouting 'NO' very loudly"
